Hope this issue can be fixed soon. Just booked Air Asia flights for a relative in the Philippines to visit Australia. Would have booked on QANTAS if not for this issue. I was able to pay for the Air Asia flights and receive the tickets online without the need for any in person credit card verification.

I suspect that I got a survey request from QF as a result of my recent promotion to Gold.

I included the comment that elites should be able to "register" a CC for the purchase of QF tickets on-line worldwide

Hope that helps but somehow I don't think so.

Also asked for luggage check through from QF to 3K. Another hopeless request?

Fred

Red Roo. It has now been nearly three months since I raised this issue and you messaged me to say you had directed the matter to the relevant departments and were waiting for a response.

Can you please provide an update for the AFF community. Three months is sufficient to at least have an indication of (a) why credit card verification is require in person, (b) if credit card fraud is the reason, why exceptions cannot be made for frequent flyers purcasing ticets from their own account, in their own name, and using their own credit card, and (c) why charges for using the Australian call centre to complete ticketing can't be waived.

With thanks

Mel-T

I couldn't have said it any better, myself!

Interline between QF and 3K is in place?

At present I would venture only the other way around - ie 3K -> QF
But given that the 2nd PER-SIN is now on 3K and apparently 3K can through check ... (at least they sell the connection)

There should be no reason a QF flight to SIN should NOT have through luggage to 3K (except a management decision)

I could continue (with no obvious effect)

I sent an email to Qantas on the 15th Feb about this exact topic. And also questioning why you cant make multi-city bookings on the QF website with originating city being Bangkok. To date they have not responded.

I wondered the same; didn't bother contacting, because I never seem to receive a reply. But would be interesting to see if they get back to you, and what they do have to say about this.

I had no issues with QF-3K late last month from Syd through to KUL.

Single PNR? QF is actively selling the 3K connection in SIN to KUL as a connecting flight. As well as a few MH flights. Seems they are also selling the 3K connection to BKK - which they were not last year.

I think it could be less expensive as separate tickets... Would be interesting to see if they would check through on a single ticket but not separate.

Happy wandering

Fred

Not sure if this was mentioned, but you can call and ask for it to be ticketed in AUD by QF in Australia. I did it recently on a CX classic for this reason.

Yes - we know that. But as my post points out, we have to pay the assistance fee for ticketing in Australia. We are happy either way - allow bookings ex Thailand (etc) or waive the call centre fee.

I'm not sure who you upset at QF but I didn't pay any fees for this.

Could be that you are WP - I am only Silver, and it was the first thing out of their mouth when I called. It was even an effort to get them to waive, when I explained I was in AU and couldn't possibly got to the BKK office to present my card. (I was made to feel as if I should be honoured they waived the fee - so much for customer service.)

Last time, wasn't needed, but it was in the middle of the s***storm of all their flights/times/routes being changed for Mar/Apr, so it may have been a once off. ;)

Guess I'll find out next time I have to change a flight. :D

I hope for your sake! Change fees are different though, I wasn't changing my flight, merely having it ticketed in AUD by QFA.

It seems ridiculous that this anomaly still exists - after all it is a programme with global reach!

I tried as platinum and got the fee waived once. The rest of the times i called I was told no dice and i had to pay.

You did actually book first online? If you have a booking, how can they charge you a service fee to ticket said booking?

just an update to let you know that I am still waiting for an answer from Qantas on this issue.

A private offer was made to resolve the matter but as it affects everyone, I mentioned it might be made more generally rather than restricted to an individual. The offer would also have meant a follow-up after each booking, and more importantly, the disclosure of personal information (which I am not prepared to do).

An appropriate resolution to this issue should:

a) be public (made available to all through a change in Qantas policy offered privately) and
b) as a result of (a) - not require the disclosure of personal information

I will keep you updated.
