Mines 29th. You can change the dates by calling citibank. Mine used ti be the first week of the month

And a smart tax-payer would do just that - adjust their statement cycles so the statement period ends just before the big tax payment dates (and in this context the 29th seems an odd choice? Or do you always pay a day or two late?)?

I've deliberately got half my cards setup with the statement period ending on the 20th, and the other half on the 27th.

I lined my dates up to be as close as Westpac permitted tot he end of the month. I think it is 28th. I manage the cards as a work account and the monthly end statement make sit easy to reconcile.

There should come a time when I don't have to reload my tax paying credit cards every 3 or 4 days.
That will be July 21st in the case of Amex Ultimate.
Westpac is so much easier where I cash a cheque at their counter on the tax due date then spend some time doing $50,000s out to the fiscal fiend as soon as I get back to the office.
Just happen to need a heap of QF points seeing the end of Ultimate approaches.
The timing of the statement close off date is definitely one of the best strategies to fix on all of your credit cards.
There is no need to help your bank make a profit even if you are a shareholder!

I have just got my latest Virgin Flyer credit card statement and it appears that I did not get any points for my ATO payments. I have done in the past:confused:. Has there been a change in policy?

All the citibank issued cards have stopped awarding points on ATO transactions.

Indeed but to answer the question Citibank would have you believe that there actually hasn't been a change in policy, but rather that crediting for ATO payments in the past was in error.

Thanks Cove.

Can you hit up the HSBC card with large ATO amounts or do you mean it's the same card as the HSBC issued Woolies EDRCC?

Might apply for BankWest, 200k points is nothing to sneeze at.

I have a bankwest card, I paid a $40,000 tax bill, and got 0 points for it, when i have been awarded points for ATO transactions in the past

Which coughs me off because i paid a $192 fee for the privilege

I guess its time to cancel this card

Call, cancel & move on... But thanks for posting here to save others the pain

Yet another useless plastic card

Gee there I was thinking BankWest card cap would come off late July for 200,000 points at 0.48% less a tax deduction.
I only got 400,000 points so far over 2 periods and not all of this was ATO.

Was about to apply for a Bankwest card today - one less thing to do now.

Assuming no warning or change in t&c's?

Looks like I'm late to the party :p

I would be very interested in any surcharge avoidance advice greatly received (happy to do it via PM)...
