ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

Small GIC amounts (<$50 though maybe increased to $100) seem to be automatically reversed each month.

Payment plans are easy for personal tax debts. Companies it's harder and not easy to get the interest waved I've found

Not a backdown, but I have it on good authority that the ATO ban on CC payments is to be deferred for 12 months.

ABC reporting that Jim Chalmers is today expected to announce more funding for the ATO to delay the credit card ban for up to a year.

Just heard on ABC news that Chalmers will give the ATO funding to delay the non acceptance of credit card payments for 1 year...

I do not believe the ATO looked by idiots. Perhaps the elected representatives.

Previously no ATO payments could be made by credit card where the ATO wore the cost of that payment. With the removal of surcharges the ATO had seemingly budgeted for a two month transition.

Now it looks likely the Taxpayer via the Government is going to ante up $200M to cost of such payments for 'up to' a year.

A mate pointed out the next election is in 18 months' time....so wonder if the government will extend it again leading up the election
