ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

What I don’t like about EBP is that it does not confirm which card is paying a bill. How to be sure it’s coming from the correct card, is it just the order of the CCs?

I too want to set up rent payments.

Card listed as Number 1 will always be the dirst choice of payment. If card 1 fails, next attempt will be card 2. (until card 5 is attempted)

Looking after nice ex girlfriends is a very good idea. My brother has more than one and he has been generous. Of course he pays.
He wouldn’t like paying two or three times that cost so I am a backstop with largish ATO bills he can pay.
Dog sitting can have travel rewards.

Call me a skeptic, but I doubt your brother is focusing on Dog sitting rewards

I haven’t had that situation but having a family member who has never married and has no children means his dog is special.
He has been running on empty with his Kris Flyer Account and his ATO amounts are a bit too modest to move all of his redemption nominees without a bit of help. I have been there to help and I did receive a thank you call from a dog sitter who loves France.

This is a slight variation on the theme but I'm curious if there's any cards left out there that will do Government NON-ATO spend.

Rates, rego, that sort of stuff.

Or are the numerous B2P type work arounds still the way to go there?

Signature cards from Bank of Melbourne and Bank SA will tick that box nicely.

The one from the west is still able to earn points on Bpay but there is a specific method to do it.

Have read through pages and pages of this thread and I am in the process of applying for the dragon card. Could someone kindly PM and confirm the right card. I just want to make sure I am applying for the right one. If its the card I am thinking it has a significant sign on bonus at the moment. Assistance would be most appreciated.

My post (a few up thread) is what you want.

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

For whatever good it will do, I put in a support request to remove my account on the basis of this new surcharge. 99% it will do nothing to sway them, but they may well not be fully aware of what this does to their value proposition - you may want to consider doing the same if like me there's absolutely no value in a 1.3% funding rate from card for you personally.

Has anyone seen any notice if the EBP 1.3% increase will remove the $1000 monthly allowance of no surcharge? The FAQ still has the old info:

The credit card surcharge only applies to top-ups made using a credit card and debit card and it will only apply after you have made top-ups of more than $1000 in a calendar month. If for example, during a calendar month, you make top-ups using your credit card of $1,600, then the surcharge will only apply to the $600.00 and the rate is 0.8%. In this example the credit card surcharge will be $4.80. The surcharge does not apply to bank transfers or payments made by Easy Bill Pay to pay for your bills. Your monthly $1,000 limit will be calculated on calendar month cycles and will reset on the 1st of each month.

Note this takes place in two weeks' time, the part underlined suggests that there would be no more $1000 limit.

From the email:
Changes to Credit/Debit Card Surcharges
Due to the increased fees related to supporting top-ups from credit/debit cards, the surcharge for using credit/debit cards will increase from 0.8% to 1.3% of the transaction amount. This surcharge will apply to all top-up transactions made from credit/debit cards.

Formal Maintenance Window for Changes

The above changes, in addition to corresponding updates to our Terms of Use, will be applied during a 2-hr maintenance window beginning from 11pm, Saturday, 12th October 2019. We will also notify you via the Easy Bill Pay app once changes have been applied.

Thanks! Just put the first of 9 (or more) payments through on that to stop/reduce any further interest charges. Still plenty of potential to earn points with the rest of the bill and payments, though not sure my BW More World, Macquarie Visa, or QF Amex cards are the best for that. Mr Katie has regular Amex and ANZ rewards.

Discovered this week if you take too long in paying a bill in full, the ATO may contact your accountants to put a payment plan in place. Otherwise they'll engage debt collectors.

I've paid more than half and hoping the bank institution doesn't think I'm laundering cash or something as it is!

Funnily, the payment plan that's been agreed to is about 1/2-1/3 of what I've actually been paying per month.
#FirstWorldProblems indeed!!!

Not impressed with the ATO due to the things you mentioned.

They took a six figure sum from my business account, yes I was 2 days late in paying as my accountant was away and issued us a garnishee notice pfft.

I paid the whole amount again with a cc and asked for a refund into my account.

They act all high and mighty with us little folks yet couldn't catch their own commissioner for doing the dodgy :p

That happened to me once. Trouble is that when I asked why no notifications has been sent to either myself nor my accountant it turned out the ATO had been sending all notifications to a completely random private address on the other side of Melbourne rather than to the company address. Naturally the ATO then had to withdraw all penalties.

I said the same thing, they told me the reminders was a courtesy thing, not compulsory and it was my job to pay on time, not theirs to remind

I received a pile of quarterly PAYGs yesterday from the ATO. Two I can vary so life can go on. I was thinking I should do all the paperwork tomorrow for all the BAS returns but I might leave it for later in the month.
I paid the eye watering land tax and now the payroll tax is due on the 7th for 5 returns. It seems SA still don’t take credit card payments but I will check that.
I never seem to run out of items to put on a credit card.

If they've done that to someone else's address, consider if this would be an isolated incident...
