Oh it's a Visa as well. So $1 = 1.5 pts = 0.75 ff miles for QF/KF/VA/MH. That's a pretty good earn rate considering my go to ATO card is the Westpac Black Amex. They even have a 10% bonus points for last 12 months worth of points on your birthday.

Does anyone know if it's easier/harder to get the St George card if you already hold a Westpac Black?

I also have a CBA Business Plat amex card that I'm still waiting to use on the next big ATO bill at $1=1.5VA=1.11KF but 100,000 pt cap. Will report when I get a chance to do a test run.

Awesome to hear the Jetstar Platinum is good for ATO, I just got mine in the mail this week. Looks like I won't have to rely on Bankwest after all.

Hope everyone's outage issues have been solved.

I canned Westpac Earth not realizing it was my partners card. It is no good now for ATO.
We are very happy with Westpac Platinum Kris Flyer and we have had two of these since that card started. It is no longer offered.

Just a question:

Can you put a card into credit to pay off a tax bill and still receive points? I've always been unsure of this and never tried as I thought it would raise some sort of red flags somewhere. The card in question is the Westpac Black.

I did this with HSBC when it still worked for ATO

I had no problems with ANZ Black when it paid for ATO

Yes. I've done it several times with this card

Have not had a problem on points being earned off a card in credit but it can cause someone to look at what you might be doing. Typically the card you may be using has terms that say for personal use rather than for business use and for a while Westpac tried to change our cards over so that they could earn higher merchant fees. We have had no issues with BW, Qudos,Westpac, HSBC and a couple of other cards regards credit balances and points earn.
US banks like Citi and American Express do not like credit balances but they have still paid up in Australia.

Use RewardPay to boost points earn for business payments with Amex

Will it works with ATO payment ? I guess it wont work, due to ATO only accept bpay ?

From Pointshack's website:
Use RewardPay to boost points earn for business payments with Amex

No Bpay payments allowed.

Using the Westpac Black Amex as an example; it currently provides 0.75 KF miles/$ @1.42% surcharge when spent on ATO payments. Using Rewardspay you'll get 1.5 KF miles/$ @2.64% surcharge. Just under double the surcharge for double the points.

At the end of the day, you just have work out what's best for you, your business and also your points balance ;)

I received my WW Money card statement today which shows ATO transaction on 10th May yet no points were earned. My understanding is that there would be no points earned from 11th May as per the email received in April:

We are making some changes to types of transactions that earn points under the Woolworths Money Qantas Rewards Program. This will come into effect on your Woolworths Money Qantas Platinum Credit Card from 11 May 2016 ("Effective Date").

I will of course chase (nothing to lose now). Has anyone else experienced this?

FWIW - I also have HSBC Plat Qantas card and have yet to be advised that ATO spend will not earn points. Have just called them to threaten to cancel card as annual fee is due. They agreed to waive fee so will continue to use for ATO spend until am told otherwise.

My understanding is that points for ATO spend for HSBC ended at the beginning of May - I've since cancelled this card. Similar timing for the WW card, but am holding onto to it for non-ATO spend at the moment.

I think I will prepay our quarterly tax that will be due on July 28th as this will delay the BW changes hitting home too quickly. Getting points at 0.42 cents each is just something I will miss from BW once the date goes past June 19th.

When 2 of us on the BW World card went o/s in different directions, I put the card in considerable credit and had no comment from them at all. Churned through that in one statement period.

I do hope my idea of paying early works for some on this thread. Apparently the ATO debt (currently outstanding) stands at 35 billion.

I paid a lot of ATO on my WW money Visa in the few weeks before it ended and have also noticed that they have not posted any points at all yet. They are more than a week overdue after the statement got paid. And to make it worse they have posted an annual fee, which they had promised me would be waived. Looks like I will have to call them.
How did you go jdandcoke, did your points turn up?

After chasing, they said yes, they should have been awarded. They should get posted in the next 5-7 working days so will have to check the next statement when it arrives early next month. If they were not showing on your statement then best to follow up as I'm sure they will not do the right thing.

Hi all,
I have just received two years worth of tax, hecs, and GST bills, for which I have the cash but wondering if I should be paying with a CC. I have Velocity Amex Platinum and NAB Velocity Amex/Visa Platinum. I don't think the NAB card pays on ATO bills, and I believe the Amex card pays 0.5 pts / $. Total to pay in the next month or so is 60K.

Question: Can I pay the total via CC over a period of time in 10K blocks? Or is it still 10K per tax payer per year? Is it worth putting it on the Amex Platinum or just pay it from my visa debit?

Any help greatly appreciated. I'm not in a position to apply for another card at this point.
