ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

I have almost finished my March ATO and feel I have been a bit of a cheapskate but points at 0.42% may be running out so I am in there for the fun of it. It is a game you know and 4,122 posts in this thread are proof of this.

Hmmm ... not sure if I'd ever describe paying tax as a game, (at least no more so than having teeth pulled without an aesthetic) but I know what you mean :)

Taxes and teeth pulling comparison is pretty good so thanks for that RooFlyer.
Lucky it's only money.

I have finished the eleven quarterly ATO PAYGs. Now I wonder how I will go at this as I put some more years on the clock. Probably need to get a helper.

No JohnM I tested you the other night as we talked about Z wines and you were fine.
I may need to get a bookkeeper JohnM but not yet.
No more ATO for a little while.

I currently have an EDR Mastercard and just read that there is a change to 0.5/$1 for spends greater than $2500/mth.

Thus, I'm considering changing to the HSBC Qantas Platinum Credit Card. I realised that its capped to 300,000 points/yr (won't be a problem for me). I have scanned the T&Cs but can't find any references to ATO payments.

Does anyone have experience with earning points on this card when payment ATO bills?

Thanks

Was fine with me 3 months ago (quarterly 4 to 5 figure sums over last two years mixed in with general spend). Winding it down now as moving away from QF

Thanks, might be the card for me to go to.

Have you (or anyone reading this!) found a good non-QF ATO accepting card?

I can't find any KF ones and the VA ones are about the same rate of earn as the QF ones. I don't really travel much domestically, so KF or AsiaMiles preferred over VA points, unless there is a good conversion ratio of VA to international airlines?

TIA! (Thanks in advance...)

Have they announced this change for existing customers or is it only new? I'm still uncapped as far as I can see. The new cards are a VISA with this limitation.

I will be cancelling it if that is true.

NAB has velocity version of their card with $100k monthly spend cap. Can then convert velocity points earned on NAB Amex to SQ effectively 1.11 SQ/$1 spent after converting velocity to KF.

Thanks, that would be using NAB Amex Velocity so, earning 1.5 points / $ then the 1.35 : 1 conversion from Velocity to KF?

ie 1.11 KF point per 1.5% ATO CC fee or cost of 1.35c/point or 0.74 points per cent? As compared to 1.5 KF point per 1.5% ATO CC fee or cost of 1c/point?

Thanks, just trying to work it out in my head and would love someone to double-check my working... :)

Re: Credit cards and FF points for ATO transactions

Anz Platinum rewards card is still generating points for ATO payments

Just confirming that the ANZ Platinum Rewards card is still issuing points for ATO payments - i.e. vetrade not referring to ANZ Black Rewards?

If a new customer is to choose between ANZ Platinum Rewards v ANZ Black purely for ATO, I assume you would go for ANZ Platinum Rewards as the effective FF earn rate is the same but lower annual fee? Am I missing anything here?

Talking AMEX here as this is better for me personally...
