ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

Which is the best debit Mastercard card to use for payments? I have an international debit Mastercard with good miles earn and forex rates but the ATO payment site charges 3.7%. I'm pretty sure I can fund an Australian debit Mastercard much cheaper than this but I'm unsure which one to try. The Auspost one gets bad reviews so I thought I'd ask before wasting $8 on it in case there are better alternatives. Thanks in advance.

With the year almost gone I can reflect on the fiscal fiend. I probably gave 7 figures of ATO to others in the family each quarter as the fiscal fiend keeps sending us bills. It remains our families largest frequent flyer point/miles opportunity and yesterday I was working to get my last eligible family member a credit card for running up some points/miles. Into PERTH we went to do a proof of existence with passport, drivers licence, tax file number and some other paperwork so I feel the fraud folks at that bank now know he exists. They knew he had been overseas for a year probably from the credit card and banking info that they requested. It now looks like he will get to YES this time.

Signature cards from Bank of Melbourne and Bank SA will tick that box nicely.
In the process of looking for cards that pay full points for payments to immigration department - just wondering if the Amplify cards from Bank of Melbourne and Bank SA would still pay full points? In the T&Cs it does say government charges are excluded. Would also appreciate if you can kindly let me know what's exactly the "dragon card". Thanks in advance!

The dragon card is the Parent of the cards you mention. I can’t vouch for government charges counting towards sign Up bonus points, but these cards will earn points for everything.

By parent do you mean the signature? Thanks for your reply

Hi,
fairly newbie with the affair here. I've got some ATO bills coming up, would EBP still be the way to go?

Used to be the way to go but things have now changed, due to their rate rate increase for VISA from 0.8% to 1.18% early last year I believe Yak Pay are now the cheapest on the market at 1% for VISA and I believe 1.2% for MC. We've been using YP since they came out late last year and they've been great thus far, also started using their sister company PaymentLogic for the Amex but the rates for that are quite a bit more. Using a dragon card works a charms with Yak in regards to points and whatnot - cheap fee on a lot of the cards too

might be worth checking out my recent comment in regards to this. Been making fairly large ATO payments (50-300k) with our ST G card and it's been working great on their platform

Partner received an email from eBP within the last 20 minutes, saying the account has been suspended due to the nature of some transactions...

Not designed for funds transfer, or earning credit card points, nor should be used for these activities..

Contact them if we wish to use the account for "normal household bills" and budgeting.

Wonder what made them twitch? Especially since they updated their fees.

Might be time to explore your options, even more so since EBP are no longer the cheapest on the market for VISA/ MC anyway. As long as it doesn't break their rules it shouldn't be their concerns how you spend your money. We make payments with our ST G card on YakPay for the sole reason of maximising points earned as well as obviously paying business expenses + plus it's cheaper than EBP
