Appropriate Behaviour in the QF Lounges

I thought I would check etiquette before my upcoming travel this week. I am destined to make a rare visit to the MEL F lounge, and from the vibes I am getting from this thread it is probably not the done thing to shave one's armpits or head in the restaurant, and probably not the lounge area either. Is any hair removal acceptable?

:p

It's Sunday night, well early Monday morning to be precise, the wine has flowed, please cut me a break!

There is always the library! :D

On one occasion I stripped to the waist and had a shave in the wash room in the 1st class lounge. This wouldn't have been a problem, except I had gone into the ladies. There being no-one in there at the time, I didn't notice until two elderly ladies walked in. I think it broke their boredom so well, that they were more entertained than shocked. I think it was AA in LA (Tom Bradley terminal shared with Qantas)

Some might consider this poor etiquette.

And you were shaving ??? Your chest? arms? back?

To me, anyone wearing sunglasses inside is just an ignorant barbarian (unless there is a medical condition).

I used to think this until I started to spend a lot of time in places where I was the only non local. Everyone tends to stare at you and often making eye contact leads to people thinking they can speak to/hassle you. In those circumstances I tend to find that I use sunglasses more and more, even when inside say a shopping mall. So for a relatively famous person they may be wearing sunglasses so as to avoid eye contact.

I dont know if anyone else is seeing this but has anyone visited the Brisbane Qantas Business Lounge on a Monday recently?? I was in there last week (at 6am) and was about the only person in there NOT wearing a Hi-vis vest or pair of Hi-vis engineering overalls.

What has happened to the "smart business attire" or is it now simply a matter of those who spend the bucks $$$ can wear what they like?

This may not be a very comforting fact, but saliva contains more bacteria than urine.

Trivia question a few years back? What is more likely to cause a person a serious infection, a:
a) Cat bite
b) Dog bite
c) Human bite
d) Horse bite

Answer - human bite. Range and number of bacteria in human mouth is close to 100x level in virtually any other animal. Makes you think doesn't it?

It certainly does, I'll add being bitten by a WP to the list of things to try to avoid in the J lounge. :p

(Presumably biting is not appropriate behaviour either?)

Isn't hi-viz business attire?;-)
Again, I don't get what the issue is provided the clothing and the person wearing it is clean.

So I'm guessing not much chance of getting bitten by an animal in the Qantas Lounges? Some of the people in Hi-Viz and with Tattoos do look a bit menacing though. I will keep my sunglasses on to avoid eye contact with them now I know how dangerous it would be to be bitten.

Interesting story in the West Australian this morning .... Some guy got his tongue bitten off by another guy in a fight here. I'm thinking .... good chance he will get an infection from that .... as well as talking with a LISP from now on.

I think removal of hair from the nose and ears is fully acceptable.

But what was he doing that enabled the other guy to bite it off? The mind boggles.

Once again, perhaps we're drifting a bit too far from our topic, despite the fun of being boggled.
