..Given the EK relationship, I would not expect QF to be particularly generous with earning on Qatar.
Earning to QF ffp for a QR flight is not up to QF. Its what QR buy from Qantas.
QF freq flyer program sells points (& SC) to others airlines, hotels, credit card companies, rental car companies and more.
QF will buy QR miles for those who take a trip on QF and credit to the QR ffp

It is still up to QF what it sells the points at to QR. QR may be happy to buy enough points to earn you 1.5 QFF points per mile flown in Business Class, but to discourage QFF members from flying on Qatar, QF may only be prepared to sell them the equivalent of 0.75 QFF points.

Or they may not be prepared to sell them to QR at all, which is what I've heard rumours about relating to both Qantas and Air Berlin relating to QR's upcoming membership.

I'll be very interested to see what QFF actually comes out with on 1 November

Which is of course annoying! Some of us want to book tickets ;)

You'd be best advised to wait until AFTER 30 Oct before booking tickets.

I claimed SCs and points within the month of MH joining OW - I had to produce an Invoice/E-Ticket to prove the booking had been made after MH joined OW before QFF would (manually) process the claim - as well as the usual BPs etc.

That sounds particularly tough. That's the great thing about this site - you find out something new everyday.

I had thought that you were credited according to when actually flights flown and not when the booking was made. I have a QR booking in December which I made this week. I am not expecting the full credits as it's a restricted business fare booked in I. However I "presumed" it would earn at least the same as MH. Guess all will be revealed next week. But even if this ticket earns nothing, it was a very good deal and I am curious to see if they live up to their "5 star" reputation. One stop to Melbourne from Munich is very appealing to me and their J class fares are considerably less than QF/EK.

Although the conversion to QFF points earn varies between one world carriers, do the sc's earnt vary too. I was under the impression that all F J Y or discount Y fares earned at the same rate through out one world.

Some Oneworld carriers, such as MH or CX, have discount Y fares in the cheapest buckets that don't earn any points or SCs. It's possible Qatar will be the same.

I agree with rocketboy. I've never heard of the need to book post-joining, just fly post-joining. It suggests that a new member won't actually get any benefit from announcing impending membership.

If it's anything like the earn rates with MH or AB I won't be holding me breath. My previous AB flights mostly posted points in the double digits

That is extremely surprising and very disappointing. I haven't seen that anywhere in the fine print.

According to AusBT, be prepared to be underwhelmed by QF again.

Not very good earning rates ...

It's already on the Qantas Website.

[all fare buckets]

First 100%
Business 75%
Economy 25% (including Y!)

No cabin bonus.

AA wins again with reasonable crediting of miles/points.

That looks disgusting. I thought MH set a new low but this has somehow manage to outdo it in the 'most lousy points earning' category.

I know where I'll be crediting my QR flights
American Airlines oneworld partner - Qatar Airways

You're being too kind, this is not simply a win.
Its like running a 100m race against Usain Bolt and finishing 10 seconds behind.
It's more like getting destroyed by your competition, getting torn to shreds.
The earning is so incomparable it's actually beyond a joke.
What a fail by QF, what a fail.
