Just another good reason to not credit to QF.

QF hand out status like candy. Great for getting WP in a few weeks but I'm starting to see the value in being selective and crediting anything like MH & now QR to AA instead. LTG might have to wait a little longer but bigger picture it's worth it.

I think it's been said a few times. Really there's no conspiracy they're all looking out for their own interests. Alliances are predominantly a marketing venture. QF & EK is a bit more than that! and most likely reflective of QF management philosophies for better or worse.

At the end of it, QF WPs really have the best of all worlds. (Hell Australian's between QF & VA, if you're 2x WP you have some nice coverage.) QF WP gives you quite a nice assortment now in oneworld + lounging with all the Jetstars + EK; pretty wide elite status recognition and perfect in addition to a *G membership.

QR flights are now available to book with QF website as award bookings! Saw flights to/from FRA, DXB, MEL & KHI.

Well done QF to get QR availability online so quickly. They did promise they would try to achieve this at the Rockpool lunch and they have delivered, impressive.

Does anyone know where QR flies F to ?
It seems only to other destinations within the Middle East ?
Even what I would have thought to be flagship routes like LHR or JFK don't seem to offer F ?
Though the DOH-LHR (and other European cities) flights on the 788 have a very shmick looking J class...

Only select aircraft have F cabins. The 'F' you mention within the middle east is actually the business class seat sold as F. That's how it works with QR middle east flights.

AFAIK the A346 and some A330's have F cabins and they fly to CDG and LHR. QR A380 will have F class though.

If that's the case can you imagine how much it would be via AA.
Maybe something like 7.5k miles and $2.50 fees/taxes I know which way I would be leaning lol :mrgreen:

The 30k is a guess. DXB-DOH is in the first redemption band (0 to 600km) where a Y flight goes for 8k, a J for 16k and an F for 24k on QF metal. There's always a premium though it seems (I think AA is the only exception where it follows the same path) which I reckon would make an otherwise 24k F award a 30k award. Again, though, I'm speculating.

As for AA, a Middle East to Middle East award is 35k in F.

Ive just booked flight with Qatar SIN-DOH-JFK return for 2 pax for $7780 Australian, over half the cost that Qantas charge! So I won't get as many SC or points but the saving is well worth it, SYD-JFK on Qantas $19k

You should earn full J SCs on QR as per all OW airlines ?

You can't use AA points to upgrade on QF metal, but if you are redeeming points for actual flights then the AA programme allows you to get the same flight for fewer points and taxes than if you go through QFF. It is a trade off between points earn/burn and status accumulation that can only be resolved by looking at your flying patterns.

That route is 10,562 according to GCMap. So 2 x 125% x 10,562 = 26,405. Costs 17.5 for one way business class from anywhere within Oz/NZ to anywhere within Oz/NZ on QF. 35k from Aus/NZ to SE Asia including China/HK. This may or may not be better use to you than fewer QF miles - YMMV.

If so, how long did it take approx for your flights to post?

Have some J & F flights coming up on QR and need the SC's by 1st may to keep me WP

4 flights in December all posted automatically without problem - usually about 7 days after flight. Flights were in J (booking class "I") but appeared on activity statement as "discount economy". Status earn and points earn was however correct. I also earned a few Oneworld Joining bonus points and these also posted correctly about a month later. Hope this helps.
