Well she has just blown her initial story out of the water. She says she was arrested before she had the breath test and told she was going to jail whether or not she agreed to take it.
Then this-
"Several hours later, Ellie and Bibi were taken to a police station where she was asked to take a breathalyser test.

'A woman said to me that I was going to jail whether I refused to take the test or took it,' she said. 'I knew then I was in big trouble and I was scared. They would not listen to me and had already made up their minds.'"

So the breathe test was done several hours after the arrest by her own testimony. One glass of wine.Sorry you obviously were drunk on arrival.

Yes there is no chance she was 0.04 at the time of presentation to immigration, and every chance of being over 0.1 and drunk by any reckoning. No chance anyone (even as I said petite Insta girls) can be 0.04 from a complimentary 1 glass of wine which would have been offered not long after departure.

DXB immigration did not play the BAC card until she became difficult

I don’t think the UAE gave her flowers or an apology either

Separately, I think DXB/UAE immigration might take a different view of “drunkenness” compared with cabin crew RSA limits. So in essence despite the unbelievable story, the BAC card in DXB/UAE and perhaps the Middle East carries a more severe set of consequences.

There seems to be no definition of “drunk”

Define drunk? 1drink? 2 drinks?.

Affected by alcohol to the extent of being impaired or losing ones faculties or behaviour.
A reasonable person presenting for an immigration examination is expected to act reasonably. However if that person is argumentative, aggressive, and offensive then it may be a reason for the immigration officer to ask why is this person behaving like this and alcohol and drugs might be the reason.
The thresholds in the UAE for what constitutes offensive behaviour is quite different to other places.

How many drinks? - it’s different for everyone. Alcohol plus behaviour especially if offensive will determine whether that person gets into trouble.

The legislation drink driving removes the uncertainty surrounding what is acceptable behaviour by using BAC as a determinant so that’s a different story.

In one of the original stories she claimed it was a blood test and she didn't think the needle "looked clean" however can't find that quote anywhere in any of those articles. There are just so many contradications hard to believe anything. In one of video clips with the UK press she says "Dubai is a great country".....er no Dubai is a city, UAE is the country.

So many contradictions from her original interview.

Sounds like the 'Dr' is now trying to get her profile out there and drum up some clientele for her injectables business.

Smoking indoors was banned close to 15 years ago. That is no longer the case as it appears to me that smoking is now allowed in an enclosed area with a few gills in the external wall connected to the main area's air conditioning via a revolving door.

I'm inside the clubs/pubs main area and the place wreaks of stale smoke. So please explain to me how that's allowed!

The Las Vegas casinos all reek of stale smoke.

I agree it’s very unsavoury but not sure what can be done except to completely separate smoking areas from non smoking areas with special aircon setup airflow from nonsmoking to smoking areas.

I'm now wondering when the expired Swedish passport made an appearance. She said she handed over the Iranian passport which is what she'd used on her last visit. It was pointed out to her that the visa in this passport had expired as it was for a single entry visit only. Sounds like one immigration officer told her she could get a 96 hour transit visa and bring forward her return flight but another officer told her she had to return immediately which she refused to do. It would seem that it went downhill quickly from there with her arguing with this official then illegally filming him and she was taken into custody after she admitted to drinking on the flight.

Not sure whether she handed over the expired Swedish passport in a last ditch effort hoping that it would override the more restrictive conditions of the Iranian passport.

The group Detained in Dubai are calling on the British Foreign Office to do more for British Nationals however she isn't a UK Citizen but a dual national of Sweden and Iran. Her partner apparently called both the UK & Swedish Embassy and found them unhelpful, possibly because she entered the UAE on the Iranian passport so she's an Iranian national.

Then orders came from the top to release her because all the worldwide publicity was becoming very damaging for future tourism.

Thats sounds reasonable. Why hand over an expired passport first when you have another one
And the story that the UAE gave her some flowers and an apology is not believable especially when they are deporting her.

The public statement by UAE says to me its easier to deport her than to let this play out any more.
Unfortunately for her the hub of DXB is likely not available to her into the future.

The initial charge was profanity and photographing a govt official in a restricted area. No mention of BAC. A charge which included drunkenness might have created greater difficulties for the UAE in terms of tourist perceptions.

It was the statement by UAE officials that she first handed over the expired Swedish passport.I prefer their testimony to hers.
Also interesting that in this last story she admits to injecting friends with Botox whilst in Dubai.Methinks it was a lot more than friends.

Have you ever been a woman without a man in a ME country? Until you have been harassed, stared at, groped, chased down alleys, don't complain about the things put in place to protect women. Every single bus trip I took in Turkey (not even really in the ME), I had some horrible man try to grope me or just touch me, or my hair between the seats. I started to ask to be seated with the women and children too!
I don't think you can dump Dubai in with what goes on in other Middle Eastern countries. I doubt there is much groping going on in Dubai, because most people there aren't actually Dubai citizens - and can be easily sent home. The only occasional obnoxious people we've come across there, have been other tourists.
Regards,
Renato

I’ve travelled through Dubai on my own and with my partner and a fellow Female AFF’er. I have never encountered any behaviour that has disturbed me, quite the opposite. Turkey is just a little bit strange though. I’d not regard it as remotely like the ME. I’ve felt much more unsafe in Vietnam.
