Only the wealthy and / or the misinformed would pay $$ for Qf F ;)
I think there was a trip report with a guy whose dad passed on and left him $ and he used it for a bucket list QF F trip to the US.

Pretty sure he paid but as he was sitting in the comfy seat, raising his glass of beer, pretty sure he was cheering his dad as well.

There certainly was

I reckon that would be a Noel Mugavin TR, can't remember the name of it but it was good.

Edit; found it:
My first-class bucketlist trip

Yes, thats the one I was thinking of and, "A few weeks before Dad died he asked me what I wanted to do. I told him the usual stuff - pay off the mortgage, upgrade my car etc and he scoffed. "What do you really want to do with some of the money?" he asked sternly. "I've always wanted to fly international first class," I said. "Then do it," he replied.

My parents will leave a lemon of a Merc and no cash as what there was got squandered on a 20 year business adventure... well at least they had fun.... my own super is looming and I'm thrilled at what that will bring. Significantly less tax....

my teenager asked me yesterday why I'm not bored no longer working. Gosh, where to start answering that with all the things I can now do that I couldn't then. I almost pitched for the $9994 Melbourne -London F on QF THAT was available during Jan early Feb but this year has a few events at home so half a dozen times back and forth to Europe was definitely luxurious so that ship sailed.

As someone said to me once "If you don't fly First, your children will." Good motto IMHO!

My son has had a Sydney to LHR paid courtesy of us in F. Paid for and all : ) also a couple of business class to Europe.
Wanted him to have memories.
He has been told he will ,if anything, inherit a house.
All else is spent.
He will have a great memories of his parents. Wouldn't have minded those with my parents

My kids thought QF F was good, the first time...

It's funny in a way. Those of us fortunate, one way or another, to fly in First on any carrier compared to most others folks around us.

Even luckier too for those of us who have been able to sample multiple products and have the luxury to compare, contrast and yes, criticise poor products. Recently I did the new SQ F Suite, and it was amazing, the service and soft product make QF F pretty pedestrian (and the difference between a carrier actively investing in the premium experience, vs one "enduring the apparent need for it on ke routes").

I feel so privileged to be able to have these experiences (and I have no kids to do it later :) ) and do try and keep some perspective.

I'm doing QF F long haul again very soon and sure, it's not SQ or EY, but neither is it UA. And at the end of the day it will provide exactly what I want it to - a comfortable and relaxing long flight to my destination... and hpefully a bunch of sleep when I need it. And I'll be safe and get there in a fairly good state I think.

We're all different, have different experiences and expectations.... some people have the wherewithall to purchase paid premium travel, others do it the mileage award or upgrade route... (and some others do it on staff travel).. however we get there it's far far far better than sitting 40 rows further back. :)
