An article on flying QF First

I've not found the new F bedding to be overly different - still a good product like the previous one.

Clearly the video and review have some inherent bias, as do any of the travel bloggers with enough of a following to monetise their content.

That would be a good idea - undercover F airline reviews! How they really treat you.

We're not the target audience for the article. It is for people with aspirations or those who want to see how the other half lives.

I found the piece a nice puff-piece - clearly identified top and bottom as a freebie from Qantas, so readers can make of it what they will. I dare say Qantas staff were worded up to 'look after this one'.

I've had the First Host greeting at the curb, and was sought out once in the Lounge with a message, but never escorted (would decline anyway).

As for bags out 'first' - ho, ho, ho.
WE arrived in MEL on QF First and were met by a host to escorted us to baggage collection where we waited and chatted to the Captain. Not only didn't our bags come out first but our bags and his had been misplaced.

MEL seems to be known for baggage handlers keeping F luggage for last.

Obviously QF don’t bother to do anything about it.

Not only MEL, BNE and SYD are as bad. Probably similar attitude in all Australian airports, no matter if it’s Int or Dom, they just don’t care about priority luggage tags.

Let's not over generalise here. I've had F bags out among the first at MEL too.....

Well the writer of the article was flying to LAX, so it's actually possible that his bags did come out first

I was greeted and walked to check in as I got out of the hire car at the taxi rank at LHR on Friday, which was a first for me there. I hadn't requested an F Host, but she knew who I was, like she expecting me. I don't know if this is a recent addition or just a random one off. Previously, I've only ever received calls at LHR, e.g., when I'm running late to check in or board.

In the past, the LHR CD driver has called the F host/check in about 5-10 mins prior to arriving, letting them know they have X passenger and are in X car. Maybe these days they do it by text to make it more discreet? Or, they have automated systems in place giving said info to the ground staff...

Just wondering are you a P1?

Yes, although the F Host appeared to be greeting other passengers as well.

(OT, but as a P1, I did also receive two text messages, an email, and a call from the SST about this strange flight change - it was delayed until 12.30am, but we still all had to appear before 9pm due to some customs issue. So maybe they were trying to make sure the laggards like myself made it through!)

Yesterday was a patience building "let's send the F bags out last" day on the Sydney end, and I was also targeted by someone with a clipboard when my bags finally arrived to check if I was connecting anywhere. I don't know if she was a F Host, but no one else seemed to be asked the question. And by that point, I don't anyone was left apart from the priority passengers.

Only the wealthy and / or the misinformed would pay $$ for Qf F ;)
