An article on flying QF First

I enjoyed reading it because the pointy end is still new to me (havent made F yet, still flying J long haul) so his enthusiasm for the perks was fun.

Some of our friends/family didnt know you get PJs and flat beds, let alone a bar ect. Even the lounge (massages, spirits, shoe shines, showers ect) is foreign to them.

Poor guy, going back to Y is going to suck for him.

On QF A380 there's a little lounge area but your seat is more comfortable so unless you're going for a chat with someone (whether that be a travel companion or one of the FAs) you'll probably spend very little time there if at all. On e.g. Emirates A380 which has an on-board bar things would be different.

The First lounge perks do vary from depending on which airline's first lounge you're in and even the location as well. An airline's best First Lounge would be at one of its home ports.

Going back to Y is hard which is why I'm trying to put off doing that for long haul as long as I can (hope my upgrades keep on coming through for those times I book Y and put in for an upgrade - only had the one failure so far).

I think if my memory's correct some reports here say that where the First Host is offered it may be to the MVP (Most Valued Passenger) of those flying First Class on the flight. Sometimes that may be you, sometimes that may not. Obviously when a member of the press if flying F at the gift of QF they'd become that MVP for that flight.

I think the article actually undersells just how good F is!

Ah... missed that comment about the bags and the baggage carousel.

I still travel all 4 classes depending on where I am going, how long the flight/s are and the price
I love my 1st class and miss it when I am not up the pointy end ;)
Quite easy to be enthused about 1st class I think

...and this is only QF F!...he should try some other airlines' F to really get the true F experience ;)

I'm sure he would if they're willing to give him a free ticket like QF did.

honestly nonews.com.au piece that was a bit rubbish (but I expect very little from them).

As for the F hosts, while I do know of some people who absoilutely insist on and demand the service (and you can sometimes arrange this via request I believe) personally I don't need someone to greet me, walk me through the airport, take me from the lounge to the plane. I've heard of at least one person requiring the F host "introduce them to the crew" so they Know Who They Are.

well that may suit some people, but that's not my personal style.

Sure it's one thing if the gates a long way away and they may take pax on a buggy or something (eg TG at BKK) then that's quite nice, but the rest of it. I can carry my own bag and board the plane myself thanks.

I suppose different people expect different things from a "First" experience.. and to some it's all about the hosts and the "bowing and scraping" (again TG is a bit that way). for others it's about privacy, or the joy to get in that cabin, or ability to be comfortable for a long haul etc.. that's more me.

Each to their own I guess.

I suspect correspondent Andrew, flew one way F. ..... ergo, how did he Fly From LA ?

IT WAS a Fun Fluffy Filled Fanfare Frequently Full of Festivity & what For him will be Fond Fancy memories

The biggest Fall is flying F then flying F For Fail on a LCC....

This post was brought to you by the letter F F F

Bags arrive first... in Asia maybe but in Australia there is better chance to win the lotto.

Was never greeted by QF host during all my F flights but as RichardMEL said it’s unnecessary service, unless there is a Porsche or at least a buggy involved :)

QF F is decent entry level product while, as KPC said, other airlines offer more advanced experience.

My one sighting of a F Host on arrival in Oz was pure luck - she returned from seeing another pax through customs and into the Dom terminal in MEL, saw me waiting for my bags at the carousel (not sure how she recognized me - assume they have pics?) and came up. A testament to the falsehood of F bags come first.

While not essential, it was actually very much appreciated service as she took my case and bag and whisked me through what was a reasonably lengthy queue and walked me all the way to the desk upstairs in the domestic terminal, despite my protestations. She then turned around to head all the way back to see if there were any others.

That to me is the fail, if you are going to offer the service then you need enough hosts to assist (or at least offer to assist) all pax from disembarkation, through duty free, customs etc. And hold pax in J and Y from offloading before F pax - but now I'm getting OT.

Since there are so little QF F flights it should be relatively easy and low cost to upgrade ground services at least in MEL and SYD. For example, escort pax to the spa when it’s time for their appointment or gather all pax from the lounge when it’s time to board and escort them to the plane. It’s all minor things that frequent flyers don’t really care about but will go long way with others.
