Amex Local Champion Reset or Uncapped for 2018 ?

Yesterday I started a separate thread (hard to link from phone browser) where my points balance and transaction listings disappeared. Someone pointed out that that also happened with Local Champion then, although mine came back when I went to check.

So it's probably that.
 
Is anyone on the recent app upgrade (well, a couple of months ago now) with the new UI, and hit the Local Champion max? My Plat Edge transactions at my local Coles where I'm Local Champion, haven't seemed to pay the Local Champion bonus points in a few weeks. Explorer transactions are still earning the bonus.

I would think I'm getting close to the max of 10k, although I didn't think I was quite there yet. But there's no indication in the app that I've maxed it out, like I received last year in the prior version of the app. (It reset at the start of this year.) The app still shows the Local Champion page for the card, with the one place where I'm leading and the few where I'm not.
 
Mine has finally stopped at 19990
but
the message says that it will be reset in the New Year and I can earn another 10k next year
Happy days
 
Mine also stop at 20,000 points . Saying will reset 1st Jan 19

I've luckily also got my local Woolworths Metro. On another note though, this past Saturday I became LC at a local (Bondi) cafe after paying for a couple of coffees with my Velocity Escape Card. I returned on the Sunday and spent a more substantial amount on breakfast for two. This time one of the co-owners refused to accept my Amex despite his CBA EFTPOS machine clearly displaying the Amex logo. I queried his refusal on 2 fronts (1) the acceptance of the Amex the previous day and (2) the Amex logo appearing on the machine. His response was that the other owner didn't like Amex because of the fees (this is despite me indicating the the 'other owner' had accepted it the previous day). I didn't want to make a fuss, so paid with my visa instead. I'm obviously much less inclined to ever return. Any thoughts or advice?
 
I just tap with the card turned down. I’ve got a few local restaurants who have “no Amex” signs up but the machine accepts them. One was even happily using the Amex stationary and bill wallets. He did crack it at me using my card, and when queried said “well they gave me this stuff so I’ll obviously use it”.

Those bit tablet looking CBA maxhines can be misleading. They all say Amex, however the merchant may not take it (and your transaction will decline).
 
I'm in Melbourne CBD and since the Amex app updated to the new UI a couple months back, I've been unable to select recently transacted merchants to add into my list of Top 10 merchants. When I click edit places, it shows the following error "Online services unable to complete your request. Please contact Customer Service." When I click on the map, I can see a few merchants, but they are all the same 10 or so merchants no matter how I zoom into the North, South, East, West part of the CBD. Last time in the old App, it will show a few more merchants and will show the recently transacted places to add into the Top 10 list. Has anyone had similar experience or any way to fix this?
 
I'm experiencing the same issue lilkid, find it slightly annoying not being able to add new places. Thought a reinstall of the app would fix it but no luck.

This is exactly right. All the CBA Albert EFTPOS terminals display the Amex logo irrespective of whether the merchant accepts it or not.
 
I made tens of transactions at Woolies last week to stock up on GC. Got to LC and then bought more than 5 digit worth of GC, but didn't receive the LC bonus. Is this normal? Online chat told me that it will credit and it takes up to 90 days. I had other places as LC recently and that credited after the transaction cleared.

doe anyone know if one changes the card no if the local champion limit is reset?

how long after the trans does it register to be Local Champ?
- whats the highest number of trans people have seen to become local champ? Ive seen 14 as max
- is local champ literally just one person who gets the title? would assume that for supermarkets there will be healthy competiion
