If you haven't had an AMEX card in the last 18 months, now is the time to act and sign on with a 100,000 Membership Rewards Gateway bonus!

This is my favourite card and after spending a minimum of $3000 on eligible purchases in the first 3 months after approval, the 100,000 bonus and inclusions can get your far. I've maximised the value of the Explorer with the 2 points per dollar earn, building upon the sign on bonus and my existing points for an amazing flight redemption in Singapore Airlines First Class and Suites from Sydney to New York; relaxing in the AMEX lounge at Sydney Airport T1 before flights I would otherwise have no lounge access with; used the $400 travel credit for a long weekend getaway to Melbourne; and the smart phone screen insurance even came in handy with an accident with my iPhone.

It would be greatly appreciated if you apply with my referral link, where you will get a 100,000 point bonus upon meeting the minimum spend criteria, while I also receive 30,0000 for the referral (which you can also do once you get the card!):

You'll be awarded 100,000 Gateway points after your first $3000 spend within first 3 months.

This credit card comes with $400 travel credit P.A which offsets the $395 annual fee, and makes this credit card basically a free annual fee card. It also comes with smartphone screen insurance, purchase protection insurance & travel insurance, in addition you get 2 x free lounge access to Sydney American Express every year.

It would be greatly appreciated if you apply via this link, this would make my euro trip dream come much sooner.

I'll receive 30,000 rewards points for this referral.

Happy to answer all amex related queries, cheers.

Please ensure you read and understand the terms and conditions before applying.

If you are successful in applying using my referral link, I will receive 30,000 referral points.

Thank you!

Adding my referral link into the mix for this great card. You will get 100,000 MR points if approved and spend $3,000 in your first 3 months of membership, and I will get 30,000 points as the referrer.

The benefits have been outlined in previous posts, so I will merely add my opinion that this card is seriously good value. The travel credit pays for the annual fee and the travel and purchase protection insurances are excellent piece of mind

The American Express Explorer Card, the best value credit card out there.

Make this your first American Express issued card by taking advantage of the huge signup bonus of 100,000 Membership Rewards points, for new American Express members who never held an American Express issued card in the previous 18 months. All you need to do is get approved and spend $3,000 within the first 3 months, which can easily be done by paying bills, groceries, petrol, restaurants.

The annual fee of $395 but is easily off set by the $400 travel credit which can be used to book flights or travel accomodation.

With an Amex card, you will be able to redeem cashback offers throughout the year, for example in the past, Spend $20, get $10 back in November for Shop Small promotion, Spend $300 in Harvey Norman, get $100 back, Spend $150 in David Jones, get $30 back, and so much more.

You also get to have up to 4 free supplementary cardholders, and each cardholder can claim the cashback also. So if you would have spend on those shops, you save more money and in my opinion, you actually 'earn' more after getting all these cashbacks.

For the 100,000 Membership Rewards points, some examples of use (some require a little extra points):

1) Convert 106,667 MR points to 80,000 points and redeem for a return flight from Melbourne to Hong Kong in Cathay Pacific Business Class , or Sydney to Tokyo in Japan Airlines Business Class, or so much more.
2) At least $700 Woolies/Coles/Myer/David Jones/etc Gift cards. (13500 pts for $100. In my opinion, Business class flights are better value) This $700 gift card makes your first year holding this card FREE, and extra $300 and the $400 travel credit.
3) And more business class routes

This card is well worth it even if you want to hold it just for 1 year. My recommendation is to get this card for the first year, if you feel its good value, you can keep it after. If not you can cancel it and you definitely won't have anything to lose.

I would be grateful if you used my referral link to get the 100,000 bonus MR points, as I would get 30,000 bonus points.

Anyone have thoughts on whether the exclusion period is enforced? Also, the David jones cards use to be seperate, but the t&c’s don’t read that way anymore.

Just adding my link here. You will receive 100,000 Membership Rewards points upon meeting the spend requirements, and I will receive 30,000.

In my opinion, the best use for MR points is transferring them to SPG (100k converts to 50k). From there you could also transfer them to Marriott Rewards at a 1:3 ratio (150k Marriott).

You can certainly use them to transfer from SPG to all kinds of airline programs but I personally find saving money on hotels to be trickier than airfares these days so really value using these points for free nights.

Feel free to ask me any questions! Cheers

AMEX has updated its Explorer Card referral sign-on bonus: now when you apply for a new Explorer card by April 11 2018, you can earn 100,000 bonus Membership Rewards Gateway points after spending at least $3,000 on the card within the first three months!

I applied for this card last year using a referral link of a fellow AFF member (enjoy those bonus points, Dr Ralph!), and have to say I'm loving this card, and would appreciate any fellow AFFers 'paying it forward' by applying using my referral link.

Those 100,000 points translate into 75,000 frequent flyer points/miles with Virgin Australia, Singapore Airlines, Cathay Pacific, Emirates, Etihad, Malaysia Airlines and Thai Airways, to $750 Air New Zealand Airpoints Dollars, to 100,000 Hilton Honors points, or to 50,000 Starwood Preferred Guest (SPG) Starpoints (which can then be transferred onward to a host of other programs including American Airlines AAdvantage, British Airways Executive Club and more).

The card has a $395 annual fee, but that's more than offset by the benefits enjoyed:

  • Receive a $400 travel credit every year to spend on flights, hotel bookings and more - so if you were already planning to spend $400 on travel over the next year, the card literally pays for itself, and then some!
  • Enjoy two free visits to the American Express lounge at Sydney Airport each year (or soon, Melbourne Airport), regardless of which airline you're flying (perfect if you're flying in economy or your airline's own lounge is full!)
  • Earn 2 Membership Rewards Gateway points per dollar spent on most charges which are equal to 1.5 airline frequent flyer points per dollar spent when converted to the programs above at a 4:3 rate. They're also equal to 2 Hilton HHonors points or 1 SPG Starpoint. (On government spend such as ATO payments, you can also earn 1 Gateway point per $2 spent.)
  • No points capping or tiering, so you'll continue to earn points and at the full rates, regardless of how much you spend
  • Buy your next smartphone using this card or use it to pay for your monthly contact and you could be covered by free smartphone screen insurance
  • Add an additional cardholder for free, such as your partner or spouse, to maximise your points (all points earned go to your account, getting you your next free flight even faster!)
  • Link your card to Apple Pay, Samsung Pay or Android Pay for easy smartphone payments wherever AMEX contactless payments are accepted, including at major retailers like Coles and Woolworths
  • It's also quite a pretty card. :p

So, what are you waiting for?

You can apply here today!

I hope you've found my summary helpful! When you apply via my referral link, I'll receive a bonus 30,000 Gateway points if you're approved and you can receive 100,000 points in total, so much like an Uber referral it's a win-win!

Although AMEX is also now offering 100,000 bonus points for direct applicants, using a referral link such as this one can sometimes help you earn bonus points that you may not otherwise be entitled to - such as if you're an existing AMEX cardholder or have been recently (this has been discussed in a number of AFF threads). :)

I was thinking about signing up for this deal a few months ago but it only gave 60k points. Now it’s 100k it’s well worth it.

It gives your 2x American Express lounge entry in Sydney and Melbourne international airports. $400 in travel credits using American Express travel. Premium travel insurance, just make sure you book your departing Aus flights using your new AMEX.

Did I mention 100k AMEX points? Just spend $3000 within 3 months. I signed up using a referral on this thread which gave them 30k bonus points and I would receive the same if another member was to use my referral. Using my link is very much appreciated!

It's definitely one of the best credit cards for everyday use. You could transfer 4:3 to 8 different frequent flyers program.

Please kindly use my referral links: http://amex.com.au/refer/somalpczDV

You will receive 100,000 points and I will receive 30,000 points.

You could PM me before or after you use this link, so that I could say 'thank you' to you personally.

I can confirm that my referral link is working and its 100k now. Thus you receive 100,000 Membership Rewards points if you apply by 11 April 2018, are approved for an American Express Explorer® Credit Card and meet the spend criteria (T&Cs apply).

I receive 30,000 Membership Rewards points for each friend approved for a Card using my referral link.

One of my favorite cards that i use daily. Tip you are covered up to 100k if used for car rentals too.
Many thanks in advance.

I've signed up for this card back in January 2017 and must admit the rate that this Explorer picking up points is unbelievable! For every $1 = up to 2pt earning. Not forgetting that AMEX have reinstated the MASSIVE 100,000 sign up bonus points, this card surely is a game-changer. Also goes without saying that you will need to have put at least $3000 on the card in the first 3 months to qualify for the bonus points too! Might seem a lot at a glance but that's an easy $500pm when you put all expenses into the card such as utilities, groceries and even travel!

http://amex.com.au/refer/munhoydFnf

The BIG 100,000 bonus points is no small feat as it opens up to a whole new world of adventures with unparalleled conversion from MR to Mile points! It really almost is the everyday card for any consumers, regardless of their spending power. Not forgetting that you'll also receive a generous sum of $400 travel credit to be used on flights, hotels and/or tour packages via AMEX Travel website, easily offsetting the reasonable annual fee. Note that the travel credit kicks in after having paid for the annual fee + minimum repayment after the first month. Been an AMEX user for the past 4 years and never once let down by their attentive CSR + service.

Again, here's a brief overview of what to expect when you successfully signed up:

  • Receive 100,000 Membership Rewards® points when you apply online by 11 April 2018, are approved and spend $3,000 on your new Card within the first 3 months. This offer is available to new Card Members, as well as Bank-issued American Express companion cardholders
  • Start exploring with a $400 Travel Credit each year
  • Earn up to 2 Membership Rewards points for every $1 spent on eligible purchases
  • Enjoy two entries per year to the American Express Lounge at Sydney International Airport
  • Transfer your Membership Rewards points to a choice of 8 Airline Partner Programs
  • Smartphone Screen Insurance for up to $500 for screen repairs to your Smartphone when you pay for your phone or monthly contract with your American Express Explorer® Credit Card
  • 0% p.a. on balance transfers for the first 12 months10— A one-off credit plan establishment fee of 1% applies.

Needless to say, I'd very much be delighted if you truly think that this post helps by applying using the link provided as it not only brings you one step closer to that dream holiday of yours, but also mine as I will receive a referral bonus of 30,000 points. After all, it's all about giving and sharing to all those especially on this forum!

What do you need to do to take up this offer?

-Click on my referral link and follow the application process.
-Spend $3,000 on the card in the first 3 months – think you might struggle to spend this much? Send me a private message and I will give you a cheap, quick way to meet this criteria!
-Sit back and rub your hands together with glee as you wait for the bonus points to hit your account!

It’s that simple folks!

This is quite simply the best AMEX card on the market and with the massive sign up bonus on offer, adding this card to your coughnal is really a no brainer!

But NoName, why should I use your link?

-As mentioned above, if you use my link we both win!
-As many will recall Mrs NoName and I ate our way across the USA in mid-2016. We gorged ourselves on all manner of cuisine. While we may have come back a half dozen kilos heavier, our points balance came back a whole lot lighter! With a return to the United States Of Eating confirmed for August, the final pieces of the points puzzle are being put into place. A couple of referrals here will put me over the top and ready to eat, drink, fly and stay. Naturally, my exploits will be shared with the forum!

Thank you again for your kind consideration and help with achieving my points goal. My referral link awaits below:

http://amex.com.au/refer/jameshFLW0

Thank you very much to the person who used my referral link last week. The points are going to be put to a very good use as mentioned in my initial post above.

We are now very very close to the points goal so if anyone else would like to help seal the deal with another 30k pts referral bonus it would be very much appreciated! Think of all the good karma that will come your way...... as well as a lazy 100k pts for yourself. :p

There are so many excellent amex offers around at the moment, it is hard to know which one to choose. The explorer card has the most flexible redemption options so in my mind this is the one to go for. It offers the same redemption rate for Starwood points as the ascent program which opens up many possibilities. You can use these points on almost any frequent flyer program!
For example, once you get to 180,000 points, you can transfer across to a number of great airline programs such as Singapore airlines, yielding 135,000 points. Alternatively for the same number of points, you can transfer to Starwood and then to Marriott and redeem one of their outstanding hotel and miles packages.
Flight and Hotel Packages | Marriott Hotel Packages
For the same 180,000 points, you could get a 7 night stay in a category 5 hotel such as the beautiful Marriott Phu Quoc in Vietnam and they would also give you 132,000 United points which you could use to fly two of you to Vietnam.
JW Marriott Phu Quoc Emerald Bay Resort & Spa

Anyway, that is just an example, others here have mentioned many of the other wonderful things this card offers. As soon as you sign up, they give you $10 off for spending $20 at Woolworths and that is just the beginning of many offers they throw your way. If you use my referral link, good karma will come your way and I will gain 30,000 points. That is the beauty of a forum such as this one where we can share our love of travel as well as our love of a great deal!
Anyway, here's my link:
