ALL QF's 330's to get lay flat Business seating - Including Domestic

What will QF do when EBG or EBL is under maintenance, in regards to SYD-PEK. Either they cancel the flight, or operate with a 744. (333 doesn't have the range and 332 fleet cannot be used, except EBG and EBL)

There are weight issues with the 2 A330s that haven't been reconfigured. The new seats are a lot heavier

You have your A330 stories mixed up. The story was Qantas's orginal (domestic) batch had weight issues that they couldn't take Skybed MK I. Though the fact these very a/c now have the suite seat think that myth is debunked or alternatively they strengthened it during refurb.

In any case clearly not an issue going from Skybed to suite. As I've mentioned before the key issue is galley space and crew rest for 3 pilots on the longer sectors (not an issue to cgk or sin). If they make these the same config as the rest of the -200 fleet they don't have enough space for two full services.

Alternatively they could make a sub fleet by keeping the existing galleys as is and either have less J or less Y seats. Effectively that's what they are doing keeping two ubrefurbished so operationally maybe not such a big issue. Time will tell.

I have sorted my issue. Changed my flight to SYD to an EK flight with Qantas Flight # It leaves BKK later than I would have preferred, but it'a an A380 in First for only $6000 more for both of us.

I won't make this mistake again.

Does flying on EK metal earns you BAEC TP? Always thought it has to be marketed AND operated by a OW carrier.

There seems to be a special provision for QF:

Executive Club Members can collect Avios on the following flights:

flights marketed and operated by Qantas or Qantas Airlines affiliates under the QF designated code
flights marketed by Qantas but operated by Jetstar booked as oneworld fare in L class only
flights marketed by Qantas or Qantas Airlines affiliates and operated by Qantas, a Qantas Affiliate, BA, another oneworld carrier, or another third party under a codeshare agreement

*Flights booked under the Qantas code (QF) operated by a non-oneworld airline will earn Avios and Tier Points unless operated by Jetstar in a class other than L class.

A VERY interesting post from Dave C over on YSSY

Rumour has it that 4-5 -200's will be reconfigured "again" to include a real tech crew rest, another J class toilet and a galley capable of a double meal service. This will be in addition to the 2 non reconfigured ones (as mentioned earlier, they seem to be staying) which will also be done.*
If it's true it's a good decision.*

If true I would expect this would be the newer 332s with SIFE and give a sub-fleet of 4-7 (higher end including EBG/EBL) to service PEK/HNL and other long haul destinations

Can someone tell me what brand of case / charge cable qantas use on the ipad minis?? They seem high quality

I had confirmed by two flight crews this weekend that there will be 5 to 7 Domestic A332 that will be reconfigured for International Operations including the major issue of Flight Crew rest area being resolved and additional galley and toilet spaces.

It was also indicated the current 2 odd birds will also be reconfigured too.

Expect this to start mid February Early March

...
Those initial 332's went off to JQi.

When they came back the Millennium seats were basically just re-covered.

I dont think they ever had skybed.

Correct they never had the Skybed. Only 4 -200's ever had them and they were all delivered with Skybed, 2 obviously now gone and two the subject of the latest discussion.

While I normally wouldn't trust GalleyFM, given it seems to be confirming a credible rumour, will put more faith in it.

Hopefully QF comes out with an announcement soon.

Would assume they will do one/two of the already refurb aircraft first, and then move onto EBG/EBL

EBQ is currently in BNE. I wonder if this is the first....

Indeed EBQ has been sitting at BNE since 12-Jan.
Only time will tell I guess. Will be interesting to see how many seats are lost in a reconfig.

From Qantas confident of Beijing success | Australian Aviation

Joyce said he expected all of Qantas’s Asian services to feature the new Thompson Aero Seating business class seat at some future point.
“We are working through the reconfigs of those aircraft as we speak,” Joyce said.
“Eventually all of our aircraft flying into the Asian region will have our new product. It is just that at this time they are the two aircraft that have the range to get there.

My understanding is all A330-200s have the range to get there. QF chooses not to reconfigure those two at this time.

I thought it was more about facilities on board including crew rest areas and toilets along with galley areas.

It is. But only the -200's have the range and the ones currently reconfigured lack what you indicated above.

Exactly hence why reports have been made of up to 5 of the newly configured aircraft are to be reconfigured t the proposed latest lay out

All the 332s have the range, just not the facilities legally mandated by CASA (crew rests) and facilities for comfort/service (additional galley, and trash compactors).
The 333s don't have the range.

Good to see that AJ has effectively acknowledged further refurbs
