have you seen any between SYD and HKG ?

I think QF have indicated that Singapore will be the focus for the initial launch for their upgraded international A330s.

Given that they have said that by March there will be two upgraded A330s flying internationally, I would presume the first two aircraft would only be rotated between QF81/82 and 35/36.

They have also indicated that a mix of 11 upgraded international and domestic A330s will be flying by August so hopefully it won't be too far off.

The A380 still operates between SYD and HKG. With some luck you may score a seat in the F cabin (sold as J), much better then new A330 seats

Interesting new amenity kits - large size, with PJs inside. A neat concept, but wonder about post flight use? ( yes, I know not the intention, but a consideration in overall acceptance.)

No chance unfortunately, I tried shifting both inbound and outbound and the rep told me I'd be up for something like ~$2k in fare difference as my original ticket wouldn't allow an x-MEL journey. Not sure if it'd be any different after I'd flown the first segment but I am already pretty much resigned to the fact I'll get old new layout... Oh well!

Just adding to the above replies, SYD-HKG will continue to be operated by the A380/744 for the foreseeable future. Best chance is to take a transit through MEL or BNE (MEL is preferable, without the need of a transit bus) when the remaining A330s are refurbed.

Eventually, yes. All A330s are getting converted.

I'd originally ticketed a SYD-SIN (direct) deep discount Y ticket about a year ago, which I changed to SYD-SIN on a business saver (revenue) ticket.

When I called up and asked about changing it to have any routing changes at all, the agent seemed confused and said any time she tried to make any routing changes that the price skyrocketed. I wasn't sure if that was just the one off particular issue with that agent, but didn't want to push it and so didn't chase it harder. Appreciate any insight though, as I would be keen to route via MEL, not just for the aircraft change but for the additional SC earn off the extra domestic leg...

Eventually, yes. All A330s are getting converted.

There are no guarantees for tomorrow let alone July!

Overall though it looks good and a much needed improvement for QF on flights into Asia. From the looks of things, QF 35/36/81/82 will be prioritised for International routes? Hopefully after that QF 5/6/51/52 will be targeted so at least there is one destination where the business suite is guaranteed.

Logo stood out to me like a sore thumb but guessing its an Oroton staffers mood/pin/design board - cant expect creative types to worry about logos

Suspect that's right which needs four A333s so expect it to be the 2nd half of the year before another international destination gets added (my money being on HKG)

I'd say Narita will be next as they've already said they are guaranteeing the new product on the new BNE-NRT flights which start the beginning of August. Maybe a few Hong Kong's could slip in before that but they've already said NRT will be the second promised route.

Certainly hope it is the BNE-NRT route next.We are on in September.May get me back flying QF from Asia overnight if OK.Unless of course SQ would let me select the daytime flights as awards.
