Dear <serfty>,

You’ve seen low-priced airfares to New Zealand. You might have even seen really low-priced airfares. But you probably won’t have seen kiwi airfares as ludicrously low as these! Introducing grabaseat - the new way to see New Zealand with Air New Zealand at ludicrously low prices.

Every day from now until the end of July we’ll be posting a list of online-only deals to destinations all over New Zealand at airnewzealand.com.au.

Different destinations will be up for grabs each day with different departure points and travel periods. It's your chance to discover more of New Zealand for a lot less, but you'll need to check every day until the end of July to see what's available. Seats are limited, so get booking online, because once the seats are gone…they're gone!

Today’s list of special fares is already up so don’t wait. Click below to grabaseat!

Here's the link: Air New Zealand - grabaseat

SYD-WLG $119 o/w
MEL-KKE $189 o/w
BNE-NPE $149 o/w
ADL-CHC tba

*Kerikeri, New Zealand (Aotearoa), Kerikeri Airport (KKE), Napier, New Zealand (Aotearoa), Hawkes Bay Airport (NPE)

What are the classes for these grab a seat fares?! Anyone know?

Looks REALLY CHEAP for Sydney - Wellington!!!!!

They are "Smart Saver" fares.
Smart Saver fares are non-refundable, but you can make changes to your booking by paying a change penalty plus service fees and any difference in fare price if your current fare is not available. See below for change restrictions.

You won't earn Airpoints Dollars when travelling on a Smart Saver fare - that's the trade-off for getting such a great deal!
Interesting the SYD-WLG fare show as a $1 e/w, with +++ it comes out at $212 return.

These are TASMAN SMART SAVER FARE:

Airpoints
No Airpoints Dollars accrual
Not eligible for Airpoints Confirmed Upgrades or Companion Tickets

Cancellation
No refund

Baggage Allowance
20 kg per person
Excess baggage charges apply

Changes/Restrictions
Changes permitted up until departure with payment of
$100 change fee per adult fare
Service fee applies, fare upgrade may also apply

Tickets are not transferable to another person

Anyone know what class these book into? Could you earn miles on UA, SQ or another *A member?

* SNAP *

That is plain spooky... I was just going to ask the same question....

In my case for a friend NOT looking at Grab a seat fares (although kudos to NZ for extending them to Australia) but for a normal Smart Saver..

So... anyone know? :?:

Hmmm... Just had a look at the United (.com.au) website.... It says "most fares" on NZ earn 100% miles yada yada....

Gives me a horrible feeling that phrase.....

Because you have to give NZ your MP # when booking and I suspect that gives THEM control over miles allocation.. (???) Is that how it works?

Cheapest fares (smart saver) on NZ's trans-tasman and domestic operations do not earn mileage on any carrier.

On long haul operations, the cheapest general fares (global saver) earn mileage on AirNZ Airpoints programme only (not on other carriers)

Grab-a-seat deals do not earn mileage at all, regardless of length.

Do we get the same fare for the return journey? e/g/ if they had a Syd-Christchurch fare for $129, would the Christchurch-Sydney fare be the same (or would it be a normal non grabaseat discount fare)?

No, due to Australian Departure Tax being absent it would be approx $33 less - i.e. $96 in that example.

Note you need to pay NZD25 on the day of departure to fly back to Oz (until sometime next year where it will be included in the +++).
