ARBITRAGE, and LONGER INDIRECT ROUTES MAY BE CHEAPER
I am pleased they started to put an end to Jeststars games of having more expensive tickets on the way in! ie 350 out, 650 return leg.
Also note Air Asia (D7) is about the same as TIGER for the inconveance factor.
The greenies will hate Virgins add on OLL-MEL->CBR for $140 - I can foresee lots of OOL antics, because of national infrastructure coughups.
1) I was looking for a cheap ticket from SGN to SYD on the 18th Jan.
looked, but could not find a reverse fare for under AUD$750. Tiger nearly got my money, but I may try out D7, but will have to pay for connecting jaws.
2) National Carriers MH VN and SG LOOSE business, because their deals are lousy.
3) As a genuine Tourist, ML looses my travel bucks most of the time, because SG and Thai airlines undercut them, and steal tourist nites. The OOL offering will still miss 2/3rds of potential market - it is a good start.
4) In theory, this should kill jetstigs lame website (ie $900 one way from Thailand - are there that many stupid punters?
I think D7's prices are OK, but if domestic connecting OOL prices go up/get manipulated, then that is a big business model threat for D7.
PS: Corrected some codes - but also noticed D7 has a NASTY high commission exchange rate - they should be honest about it, which will earn loyalty.
