For me:

Friday Night drinks
Eureka Skydeck
Lunch at Station Pier
Dinner
Post dinner drinks at Three Below (possible, depends how I feel after dinner).

Sunday morn leaving for BNE, so nothing on Sun.

Is there any information on what the set menu is for Saturday dinner?

Audrey

You have a PM QF009

Ok, I am now a confirmed attendee for the AFF gathering.

Will be departing SYD at 615am  on DJ802 which arrives into MEL at 745am.

Will tag-along all Saturday activities ;)

I am staying at an unknown hotel at this stage , they all seem awfully pricey for that one night :(

Flying out QF420 at 930am first thing on Sunday. Anyone offering to guest me into a lounge would be nice touch but not necessary.

Looking forward to meeting you all.

Alan

My conference has been moved. So now I don't have to miss any part of The Gathering. Look fwd to meeting y'all. :D

QF009, I've gone from doubtful to a definite non-starter .

Have a PER & BME trip leaving on Sun night, arriving back Wed 11.45pm. Then am taking a couple of weeks off as described below, so will crack a couple of drinks over that weekend in Fiji.

QF009, I am now a doubtful starter for the inaugural AFF meet :(. Looks like I have a trip to PER & BME the preceeding week and may be taking a week's holiday with Mrs LW and mini-LW commencing that weekend, instead of coming down to MEL.

Also got an invite to my accountants' Golf Day on Friday 1st and that's hard to turn down .

Tell me please guys...... am I the only person staying at the Hilton now?

Given the prices I saw at hotels, I was tempted to just commute in, but I just noticed that the Hilton seems to have come down in price (currently pricing at $211.60 per night, so back to the realms of thinking about it!)

Count me in for the dinner SAT night.

Will advise re: other activities in due course. :p

Both the Crowne Plaza and Holiday Inn in Melbourne CBD are showing no free rooms for the Sat night, so hotel choices seem to be reducing.

Help please? I need to find a place to stay for the Saturday night at a reasonable rate.

Supply seems to have dropped and prices have risen! :(

I am open to any suggestions.

Alanslegal,

I have another Hilton Premium Club 'Member for a Stay' voucher if that works for you at all. It gives 20% off the published rate.

Thanks for the offer straitman,

The Hilton OTP BAR are now from $370pn - so 20% of that still makes me nudging $300pn - something I prefer not to pay at this point in time for a few hours shut eye ;) given a likely pub-club crawl that evening

Maybe someone has a corporate rate they can book for an employee who is going through interviews that weekend :)

very cheeky Mal ;)

Thanks for those ideas all.

Well anyway I have booked my luxurious  Saturday night getaway at the Hotel Unilodge on Swanston. It was $89 for the studio room however thanks to Hotelclub's free $50 ;) and their bonus $10 birthday giveaway ;) I ended up paying only $29 for the night (which I will probably use for only a few hours anyway) so good result for me and that $200+ saved, can go towards a nice room later on in my travels.

I've changed plans slightly from my last posting here; I'm now leaving MEL dep 1610h on QF826 to CBR connecting to QF962 dep 1835h back to BNE.

As a consequence, I'll be joining the group for Dinner with the Industry, as well as the Sunday morning tram ride to St Kilda and brunch at the undecided-aptly named Greasy Joes :p:-|.

Still undecided whether to kick-on with the pub crawl after the dinner. Considering I'll get the drink-like-a-fish allowance the next day on J back home (notwithstanding J lounge in MEL and QP in CBR), perhaps I'll forgo it.

For those that have not already responded - this is just a gentle reminder to let me know if you want to join us for lunch at Station Pier on Saturday. If you are bringing meaningful others, let me know how many. I will be ringing the restaurant Tuesday to confirm numbers, so please get back to me ASAP if you want to attend.

For those flying in on Saturday morning, if you catch the Skybus from MEL to Southern Cross Station (Spencer St), it would be a short walk down Spencer St to catch the #109 tram down to the pier for lunch. I think if you are arriving as late as 11am, you would still make it to the restaurant in time (hand luggage only assumed ;)).

Mr Falconea and I will join you for Saturday lunch and dinner.

Audrey
