Advertising on AFF

You may have noticed that "that" advertisement hasn't appeared since last Friday. As soon as I saw the original post in this topic, I decided to suspend that ad.

Next time anyone feels that an ad is offensive, feel free to PM me. I (plus the moderators) spend a lot of time monitoring the Board to ensure it's content is appropriate for the community it serves. We can't please everyone, but we do try...

Have you dropped admin a PM regarding this ?
No, I assumed that if admin was not monitoring the forums then the moderators would bring it to his attention.

Thanks admin. :D

Thanks Admin :)

This site is well moderated and well looked after. Credit is definately due to the mods and yourself for keeping everything above board.

1. Concerns like these should be brought to the attention of any/all of the Moderators and/or admin by Private Message
2. When in doubt, refer to rule number 1 :D

Then you can post the subject matter and it can be debated (with Moderators and admin in full knowledge).

Otherwise, we (the Moderators) may (incorrectly) assume that you have PM'ed it to admin. We may be considered bright when it come to flying related matters, but unfortunately not recognised as mind readers

Well, I assumed that admin &/or the mods were monitoring posts, so it would be seen. And I was interested in hearing the opinion of others too.

The mods are volunteers, who while they give freely of their time for the benefit of all of us, cannot be expected to read every post.

I get the distinct impression, that this is quite a common misconception. Reading every single post on this board will be quite an undertaking.

Indeed; for myself, I read fora and threads which I am interested in and rely on people using a "report post" or a PM when there is something that they would specifically like done or where they think there is a problem

And here I was thinking that is was common for most people to read every post on this board even on the AA forum.

Tell me about it!

And here I was thinking that this thread was about Advertising on AFF, when it was really about forum ettiquette - i.e. one should always send a PM before posting!

I hope this is acceptable etiquette but I have replied to your post without sending you a PM before posting. :-|

I thought it was quite obvious.

Post #25, and the subsequent discussion about mods not being able to read every post. :!:

I must have glossed over that one when I read through originally. I think the point of the discussion was (notwithstanding the wording of that post) that you will more likely get a response from mods/admins if you PM them as they may not read the post. Not quite the same as having to PM before you post, just you will get a better response if you do!
