I'm hearing (albeit anecdotaly so far) that someone at the Adelaide airport put the clocks back an hour last night for day-light saving!! Only a week early!

I was awake at 6.00am this morning and do remember thinking to myself that it was very quiet from the airport (we live close by and I can hear the planes). There are usually 4 flights at 6.00am (2 x MEL & 2 x SYD), but there was nothing until about 6.30am.

Just checked the Qantas site and all departures are showing late.

Must have been fun over there. Anyone get caught up in it?

Perth went back today aswell. Although not travveling today. I did last year on a day like today. When I spoke to Qantas about it last year. They told me that the plane will leave at the same GMT time as always.

So for ease of example. If a plane was ment to leave at 9am Summer Time (GMT12am) it will now leave at 8am winter time. (GMT12am)

Perth was supposed to go back to its normal time today. Adelaide has another week of daylight saving.

I don't think the bit about them all leaving at the same time GMT is correct.

I know the Per internation ones are doing that. QF77 (1300hrs) is now leaving from today at 1200hrs. (Same GMT time)

I guess this is to make sure they arrive at the other end at the same time.

Some flights do, some don't. The early morning domestics around 6 am stay at around 6 am regardless. The flights later in the day do move back and forth

In BNE, they sort of stick with SYD time; QF501 departs 5am BNE (UTC1900 -1) until 7th April when it departs at 5:55am (now UTC1955 -1).

The World revolves around SYD. God forbid a plance from PER arrive 1 hour late in SYD because of a time change in PER.

I woke up this morning in Adelaide and looked at my mobile phone and it had gone back an hour !!

Some phones are programmed to do that...

I woke up this morning in Perth, and my phone hadn't moved back the hour it should have. My phone is set to network time, so Telstra didn't change the clocks on the network over here.

There's a news article or two on the topic of mobile phones and other unusual effects

Telstra in daylight savings error | The Courier-Mail

SOFTWARE used by some of Australia's latest mobile phones and computer systems is being blamed for prematurely and incorrectly declaring an end to daylight saving in eastern states.
About 2am (AEDT) today the time on some mobile phones and personal digital assistants went back one hour, Telstra spokesman Peter Taylor said.
<snip>
The changed end of daylight saving time caused widespread technical hiccups, with multiple reports of incorrect time changes overnight.

Sydney's 2GB radio station reported that the time on the studio's computer system had changed, while the talking clock phone service and clocks at Sydney's Central Railway Station also went back an hour, Mr Taylor said.

Referring to Adelaide Airport, yep they had issues:
Daylight savings error delays planes - ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation)
Some flights out of Adelaide were delayed by up to one-and-a-half hours this morning because of a daylight saving computer error.

The Qantas check-in system was one of hundreds of computer and mobile phone networks across the country hit by the switching glitch - reverting to standard time a week too soon.

Six flights were late leaving Adelaide Airport, but a Qantas spokeswoman says it was the only terminal affected.

I use my Vodafone blackberry as an alarm. Guess who woke up an hour late in Melbourne yesterday morning.

I found a simple reboot of the phone would pick up the correct time, Reggie.

Tried that Sunday morning, but didn't work, so went to manual selection. Tried automatic this morning and it was good. I live outside of the metro area, so maybe it took a manual changeover Monday. Who knows but it is working now.

Ah, that could be it. Half your luck, eh...

In some rare news, my Microsoft Windows machine updated without issue and without needing a reboot

My blackberry/phone went forward one hour on Saturday night..... well that's entirely because I arrived in Europe Saturday. Didn't realise the change until I was advised by hotel. But I just gave up on a phone hookup I had scheduled for Sun evening (here)/Mon morning (aus time), as it was scheduled in my blackberry at one time, my outlook at another and both an hour later than I had anticipated due to Europe going onto DS. Think I'll be in the air on the way back when the real VIC/NSW/SA/TAS change occurs next weekend, aaah ... whatever.
