Accor Welcome Drink Experiences

I usually use my Welcome Drink for a hot chocolate. Better value than a juice or a soft drink - which I can usually purchase at a supermarket. *Fingers crossed* some hotels will eventually offer mocktails or milkshakes.
Oh yes I totally agree with you @History. For medical reasons I have to avoid acidic foods (juice, wine) and carbonated drinks, so I am always limited to coffee, chai latte or hot chocolate, which doesn't have the right vibe as a pre-dinner drink! I love it when there are mocktails (I can usually find something based on watermelon juice or milk) and my go to drink these days is a vanilla milkshake. I can't see why a milk shake is any different to coffee/chai/hot choc in terms of cost to the hotel.

I'm a very basic, bottom of the list Accor member, and still surprised I am offered a welcome drink voucher, sometime two! Limited to house beer, wine or soft drink.

Yes I've noticed that Accor hotels in Asia generally provide a wider range of welcome drinks than those in Australia. That includes, the Sofitel Damansara KL and Mondrian Singapore have impressive drink menus.

Interestingly, my recent visit to the Ibis Styles Madrid Centro Maravillas in May 2026 showed that they too are very liberal with their spirits, which seems to be a Spanish trait! 😊

Both 2026: Ibis Styles Legian (Bali) was a soft drink, yet Ibis Styles Manila (Philippines) was an enormous glass of wine. As for the enormous variation between the two 'styles' room and hotel, that's a story for another day, but in summary, Bali versions of any Accor brand tend to be a much lower standard (build, fitout and design).

Usually get a beer....biggest problem for me is the bar hours.
After exploring all day get back at 9 or 10pm and find the bar closed.

Usually stay or Novotel or below, no Pullmans etc.

Sofitel Bali had a few coughtails in the offer I chose the coconut margarita it was nice
Novotel Airport dps made a mean frozen. Margarita I’ll be back

My wife and I were pleasantly surprised at Sofitel Sydney Darling Harbour - welcome drink included a glass of Pommery

I no longer drink alcohol so don't see much value in the welcome drink.

What do most people do? Do you and your travel companion check in then go back to the bar/lobby to sit and drink your beer/wine?

I used to usually redeemed my welcome drink for a bottle of sparkling water. Then I read on this forum a glass of Pommery in the champagne bar (value $28 happy hour or $34 other times + Exp+ discount) is redeemable. No more water for me. Much nicer than that pedestrian sparkling (currently Veuve Ambal) offered at check-in in the lounge.

Don't know about others but I redeem when it suits me, sometimes on my departure with a coffee to go.

Depends on many factors and our plans
If the property has a nice bar area then one night we might go for a few drinks.
Other times we might lounge around the pool for a few hours and use them at the pool bar.
If we have dinner at the hotel restaurant we might use them there.
Some properties will serve the to your room too.
On the odd occasion I’ve used them for a take away coffee the next morning

Pullman in Luang Prabang, Laos had differentiated and quite comprehensive welcome drink menus based on your ALL status tier.

They also offered a daily "sunset drink" that you could have at the lobby or pool bar. Now, the staff at the pool bar didn't seem to be aware of this and insisted we signed a bill for our drinks - which then appeared on our invoice at checkout, resulting in a long back-and-forth. But the lobby bar at least knew the advertised process.

Ibis Earls Court, London -three times now (last over a year ago though), included a range of beer and cider in bottles from the bar - I had a nice cider (500ml). Also soft drinks and some wine IIRc. Silver

I think my most complicated Accor welcome drink redemption experience was at Ibis Baku City.

I had a digital welcome drink voucher in my Accor app. So I went to the bar, ordered a glass of wine, and tried to swipe to redeem my voucher in the app. Well, not quite...

The bartender said I had to first get a paper voucher from reception. So, I walked to reception, they asked for my room number, and then I had to fill out a paper form that basically asked for my life story.

Went back to the bar. Handed over my new paper voucher to the bartender. He said I still had to swipe to redeem the voucher in the Accor app.

I then received a bill for 15.40 manat, which I needed to sign - although I was assured it would be put through the system as "free".

Seven minutes later, I could finally sit down and enjoy a lovely glass of Azerbaijani red wine!
