Accor Plus Membership Discussion

In general, I am pretty comfortable with the upgrade. Bit of a shame about the loss of status extension though...

If I understand it right, I might be better off taking the pro-rata refund and resubscribing. If I took the pro-rata refund, I'd get another 30 nights on resubscription and get platinum through to end of next year, rather than may (my renewal date). If I was in extra travel hacker mode, I'd use my stay plus night first and get 2 more on resubscription.

Maybe I need a new hobby.

Looks like the price has dropped too? Site is showing $349/year.

Interesting changes. I probably come out ahead with the change to 2 stay free nights. I mostly travel in Asia Pacific so the 15% flat discount i think comes out better, but i do often stack with a sale, so i guess it's hard to say for sure there. Maybe i need to head out of Asia Pacific!

I wonder if the 30 free night will continue stacks with Accor Plus China as per current process. This means if you buy accor plus membership on both side its instant platinum without any stay.

Note that the pro-rata refund will result in a clawback of the status nights that were granted at your renewal.

If you are in multiple programs, there is a new overall limit of 30 nights

For bonus Status Nights awarded to a Member when subscribing to or renewing an ALL Accor+ membership programme, regardless of the number or types of ALL Accor+ memberships the Member holds, a limit of 30 bonus Status Nights awarded across all memberships held will be counted towards determining the annual Status Nights' balance for that Member.

That is reasonable. Resubscription would result in 30 in place of the 20. Could use the stay plus night and still be ahead. Not sure if it would get me to plat or not, will need to run the numbers.

May or may not go down this road. All the data points are very helpful.

My membership is linked to Amex and the email that I received says this:

Not sure if that is any different from those who are direct members.

My understanding was that if I renewed Accor Plus before end of September this year I would maintain Platinum until at least September 2026, if insufficient nights in 2025.

Until October 1st, that is still the case.
If you renew prior to 30th September you should be assessed under the current arrangements, they don't state otherwise and I would be very surprised if they attempted to claw back a few months of status - What is certain is if you renew after 30th September you will miss out as it will be calendar year aligned to ALL.

another questions, if my membership ends in December, usually the renewal email comes on early December right? so the 30 night status will be added on December or January (next year), for the count of platinum status I need it to be added in December, so just asking to make sure.
From the terms and conditions "For renewing members, the bonus Status Nights will be reflected on the 1st day of their new Membership year."

If you are valid until 31st December I would say you will miss out.

Subject to (d), the bonus Status Nights will be reflected in ALL Accor+ Explorer members’ Membership Accounts one (1) day after their effective ALL Accor+ Explorer Membership subscription date. For renewing members, the bonus Status Nights will be reflected on the 1st day of their new Membership year.

hmmm.. oh no... so if for renewing members, it is on the next month? Renew on December, 30 status night only will be on January? New member, 1 day after subscription date..

quite confusing..

Some bits from the full T&Cs that stood out to me and may answer some questions before they're asked...

Stay Plus Free Night:
6.2 (e) At some hotels, a 3-night minimum stay may apply.:(

6.3(d) If the Stay Plus Free Night benefit is attached to a prepaid, no change, no refund room rate (e.g. a Red Hot Room, Super Sale)booking, then the terms and conditions of this room rate will apply to the Stay Plus Free Night.

Will be interested to hear if anyone tests this:
6.5(c) A maximum of one Stay Plus Free Night benefit may be used per stay (a stay being consecutive nights in the same hotel)

6.5(c) A maximum of one Stay Plus Free Night benefit may be used per stay (a stay being consecutive nights in the same hotel)
I think this condition is not new as some non-AU memberships already included two Stay Plus nights. On the one occasion that I made consecutive bookings using them, the hotel emailed me beforehand to tell me that they'd be adjusting the second stay to the flexible rate.

Is this means bonus night from this new Accorplus not stackable with other membership (eg. All+ China)?

That appears to be the case. From the FAQ

While subscription stacking is permitted and allows members to enjoy the combined benefits of multiple programs, the total number of Status Nights that can be counted on an annual basis as part of the purchase of subscriptions is capped at 30 Status Nights.

This cap does not apply to Bonus Offers such as Fast Track promotions or other limited-time campaigns.

For example, if you purchased the following subscriptions: 'Explorer + Voyager' (which grant a total of 50 Status Nights), the total number of Status Nights credited as part of the purchase of those programs will still be limited to 30.

One other thing is that pricing across all regions is now the same, Milelion has a good article about this.

I had mine in Malaysia and paid ~$427 per year with 2x free nights (although these didn't have the limitation). That now drops to ~$345 and also includes 2x free nights (but have to pay for one extra night). Dining was often just me or 3/4 people so not a major loss there and the discounts on drinks and global rates should make up the difference so overall I'm quite pleased.

Now the really interesting thing is unused stay plus certificates multiply on 1 October.

I've got one booking at the Fairmont in Singapore ($415 value as thats the cheapest room rate) and one at the Sofitel Fiji ($370 value) so for my $427 I've got $785 worth of rooms but the gamble is cancelling just prior to 1 October and then rebooking to pick up an extra stay plus. Unless I figure out if you can cancel after 1 October and it still splits into two.

Edit - Found in the help:
  • If you cancel a Stay Plus booking after 1st October 2025, you'll receive two Stay Plus FREE Nights for that cancelled booking.
So it seems I can sit on my bookings and wait until after 1 October to see if I can extract even more value.
