I've read numerous posters bereaving end of USDM but every cloud has a silver lining. This is, IMO, a positive.

TPE Just 600KM closer to sydney than TOK but quite a few points cheaper.

SQ has the same deal with TPE costing the same as SIN or BKK. Great for me as I love visiting Taiwan

AA definitions reveal Republic of Tonga in South Pacific.

Fiji Airways flies to Tonga doesn't it? They are an AAdvantage partner, you can use them out of Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane at least

That's mentioned in jest. The name is Kingdom of Tonga.

A small silver lining. You get no en route stopover, but you can also freely open jaw to your liking at both ends.

Yes it does and I didn't realise it was an AA partner. My bad!

The next issue is no en route stopover to utilize.

I've received my e-ticket from AA now for my CX flights.

When I go to manage my booking at the CX website I can't bring up my reservation.

Is there some other trick to managing being able to select seats or should I can CX to do this?

CX will have a different PNR, it should be on your AA reservation along with AA PNR. If it's not there, you need to call CX

Was just checking back through my USDM mileage purchase / share history today~!

100000 miles pocketed as a back to back share in Oct / Nov 2012 for a total of just over AUD$1000 - sigh

Our AA/US accounts merged seamlessly - we're currently sitting on 260K and 240K, but all our travel is now booked through for 2015. I might be able to convince the other half to squeeze in another long w/end to Margaret River to try out the new QF business suites and the new vintage from our favourite winery there Windows Estate.

I like the AA portal for redemption flights as this is our main channel for redemptions (Oz domestic for 17.5K one way in business)

Well just impulse bought my first USDM redemption - well after they moved to AA!

I love having the online booking portal. I just could never get up the enthusiasm to find all the flights, then argue with someone on the phone.

Managed to get BNE-xDBX-LHR-SOF for December for 2 pax in J-F-F-J - I thought all of QF F went straight away? Oh well, not complaining!

I suspect qantas frequent flyer monetize their award seats to some extent. A Qantas frequent flyer search might not have found availability whereas AAdvantage based search would.

Exactly. Qantas as a group make nothing from letting you burn QFF points for a flight but they receive real cash from AA with an award booking. Where do you think more seats will be released to in the future...

Well thats good news!

Hi guys, what is the process of combining new AAdvantage accounts (converted from USDM) and old AAdvantage accounts?

Secondly, what are people's thoughts on buying the current promotion (100k + bonus 60k = 160k total) in the new and the old AAdvantage accounts before they merge (if they merge) to allow for a double dip this calendar year?
