I had a look at the article above and I believe that Y is correct. I don't think that its Y+.

If you are like me and not looking at travelling on the A380 any time soon, you can look at the seats and some design mock-ups at the Qantas Historic Collection (About Qantas - Our Company - Qantas Heritage Collection) located at Sydney Domestic Terminal T3.

IMHO its worth a visit esp if you have some time to kill between flights!

Note the key visual difference (apart from the very comfortable and relaxed gentleman) that confirms that the pic is whY is the centre console.

With the arrival of this new lady, can someone explaine to me the reason for the new logo?

I thought that the kangaroo was redesigned due to the 'No Paint Areas' around the horizontal stablisers? Therefore, I was expecting the areas around these components to be white or unpainted grey.

However, as it can be clearly seen in all the photo, they are bright red with the white legs of the kangaroo clearly infront.

By my reasoning, if the 'No Paint Areas', doesn't that mean they are painted red?

Actually I thought it was because of the shape of the tail and the old logo wouldn't fit on it.

I'm sure when GD first announced the QF cabin on the A380 that whY seats we're no longer going to share arm rests. Did I imagine this or has economics won over comfort for whY??

With regards to the small lounge area. I agree it is much more a waiting room than lounge. I did read somewhere that its real function is as a first aid area. This is where the resus equipment is kept.

I think the old roo would have fitted - early promo artwork from QF had the old roo - see below:

vs later promo artwork

Note the changes to the engine paint between the later proposed artwork and the production aircraft.

They didn't like having the roo's legs chopped in half by the horizontal stabiliser, so the new roo was created so its legs are further forward - more as it at the beginning of its bound process rather than just after launch

What changes? Looks more like a trick of the light to me.
The size of the flash and roo on the engine nacelles is significantly smaller in production than it is in the later artist's impression. It looks closer to the earlier artists impression than the later one.

I also think that they tookthe opportunity to design a roo that fits better on tail shapes that are on newer planes, as the old roo seems to have needed to slide down the tails a bit.

I watched the arrival of the new A380 on the TV news tonight and was really surprised to hear that the father of the pilot that landed the A380 today (Peter Probert) landed the first Qantas B747 in Sydney all those years ago.

Now, that's a Father and Son combo to talk about for years to come.

It puts a huge burden of expectation on Peter's son to fly the Embraer E666 into Sydney in thirty years time. E for Enormous.

I note the J "Lounge" seats have belts ...

As for first to fly; one erudite Kiwi Flyer has been invited to fly the A388 AKL-AKL on Friday fortnight.

FWIW, I'm on it Nov 3rd ...
