I got sent:
Earn 1,000 Membership Rewards Bonus Points for every four eligible purchases over $25 at participating supermarkets, capped at 5,000 Bonus Points during 15 December 2009 and 14 March 2010. Eligible purchases must be charged to the specific American Express Credit or Charge Card issued by American Express Australia Limited (¿American Express¿) that was nominated in the invitation to participate in the promotion.
americanexpress.com.au/grocery4

PS don't really use my AMEX for supermarket shopping, so I guess that's why I was targetted. So I plan to make 20 $25 purchases ($1000) over the next 3 months for 5000 AMEX pts. As I normally spend bet $50 -$75 per shopping trip, I wonder if I can split the bill, and get the maximum points on offer in 8-10 shopping trips over the next 3 months!

Hi all, just a bit of a rant here about all the promos that have been on offer of late. And have I got an invite ?? Plat charge and credit cards ?? Member since 1999 ?? Where are my offers Amex ? They promote Plat as being somewhat of a 'cut about' (sorry to all the other cardmembers) so where are my offers ??

The core issue is probably that you are too good a customer to Amex. You spend too much with the card and thus they don't need to encourage you to spend more.

Interestingly, without AFF (or other sites which discuss promos), you wouldn't even know that a group of Amex cardholders have been offered this promo. Would you miss it then?

Exactly. Which is why I have a new strategy, 2 Amex cards (all fee free) - one which I will barely use so it gets targetted for bonus promotions!

No luck still with grocery1 through 5 ;)

LOL I tried the same thing here, NO luck any all of my MR accounts :(

Ricardo,

You are more than likely in the same boat as me. You spend lots each month so Amex have no need to target you to promote further spending. Amex only seem to target the card holders they want to see increase their spend every month, so stop using the card and I am sure you will get targetted for a promo soon;)

I would have thought the same thing. My spend has dropped off to basically zero on my personal cards (which have a separate MR account) since around May this year.

Yet the only promo I finally received was the call from Amex today for the 10,000 xmas points :)

It was the private number that had been trying to call me for about a week which I decided to answer today

I am eligible for the grocery5 promotion! However, my card is under Choices though, and I hardly used the card (normally spend on Westpac KF CC). Maybe I should go for it anyway and collect myself bonus points for some movie tickets.

In their recent slice and dice of their membership to offer promotions to, I seem to keep falling in to the 'not targetted' bucket with unfortunate regularity!
I was doomed from the beginning.

I can only ever remember 2 offers from Amex. One was for 50% bonus points for 6 months a couple of years ago and then the recent promotion of 50% bonus points capped (was it 2,000 Amex MR points a month?) for 3 months.

Lucky I somehow barged into the Amex promotion of a lifetime....

Same here... No promotion ever. I have already dropped my usage for the last 2 months to see whether I will be targeted for promotion but the answer is NO.

I will discontinue to use my card completely in a month time to see if I get anything...I'm so disappointed right now :(

Unable to sign in for this one.:(

Seems like they have learnt, by having a cap on the bonus.

Now does it mean we can buy gift cards and get the bonus points?!

Any BONII or BONUSES anyone .Updates please. I have been away ( the sand was nice and warm) still don't know which card to use
Cheers Danger UXB

I have never had any offers that I can remember. I just tried grocery5, no good, then grocery4....bingo! I hope it works. ;)

Had a long chat to a lovely Amex customer service agent about getting annual fee waived for Qantas Premium card. She told me that Amex does not (want to) offer bonus promotions apart from bonus partners. If after a bonus promotion then best to get one of the bank branded Amex cards. Very interesting conversation.

One of the advantages of using bonus partners is that the partner pays. Indeed, if you read through, say the Altitude Rewards terms you discover that Westpac won't give bonus points if they fail to receive payment from the partner for the additional points.

The BP bonus points offer is pretty handy!

I like supporting non Coles/Woolies petrol stations and 3 points per $1 (once over $50) is quite nice.

I like the 24% return on petrol :mrgreen::mrgreen::mrgreen:

I'll pass on the silly 4 cents a litre off which is whopping 3% return, and I do laugh at the people lining up for petrol on a Wed night for 20 mins waiting for 4 cents a litre.....
