Have to ask.
1. What % of the atmosphere is CO2
2. What % of that is caused by humans
3. What % of that is caused by Australia.
I don't think these questions are relevant. If you aren't willing to change your mind no matter what the evidence is, or just don't care what happens, then just be honest about that.

I consider those things I asked are part of the evidence. Also isn”t the current climate change alarmists saying we only have 12 years left.
I do believe the climate is changing but I do not see the evidence of a so called climate change emergency

There appear to be a lot of posters in this thread who aren't interested in Australia taking action on Climate Change. I'm curious though - what would it take for you to decide we need to take urgent action? A 2°C rise in average temperatures in Australia? A 4°C rise? A 10°C rise? And don't bother with making claims about what's happened or not already. What would it take to convince you?

Well that's a suitable pregnant question..
I might show some passing interest in the concept if the whole world , unilaterally agreed to binding action that was tight with no loopholes.
But really it's all a wank…
People are the cause, good old cough Sapiens, the Imperial Animal …. breeding like rabbits and consuming everything in their path like a locust plague
We are quite simply unstoppable and are about to breed and consume ourselves into oblivion.
Gaia will quietly regenerate without us and the planet will again be quite a pleasant place.. until another hiccup like a gravitational wobble or a big hit or… but we will all be long gone by then.
Relax and enjoy the party .. it probably isn't going to last more than few more hours in universe time...

Waleed Aly predicted ALP with 81 seats
Yep another polling expert goes down the gurgler. Just heard channel ten were saying Queensland should be booted out of the country for what they did. Unprofessional journalism. IMO

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

And you have misquoted the Nine News article. Here is what Alex said according to that news source

Oh for goodness sake. I gave the ink I was quoting from (The Australian), and mentioned "The Oz". Not News Nine (AKA Fairfax). No misquoting.

But for the full quote you give:
"Tony was very much a terrorist. It is expected given the complete misalignment of his politics and his electorate."

... that's OK? That' s a legitimate use of the word terrorist? Really?

Did he tell you who was going to win you the election

There's a good reason why Rup knew who was going to win the election ;) But don't let anyone know! I saw him having lunch with Ray Hadley and Alan Jones the week before ... and they were smiling! Say. No. More.

I saw Sarah Good with the Devil! I saw Goody Osburn with the Devil! I saw Bridget Bishop with the Devil! #

Mal contents son obviously doesn’t know what the definition of a terrorist is. Perhaps he should google it.

The first sentence is such a risible leap of logic from what's been written here that the rest falls away.

Me? I know the earth's climate changes. I'm a geologist and have studied the history of the earth for over 4 billion years of its history, not just the last couple of hundred years like the much-touted 'climate scientists'. Its changed radically (ie in and out of ice ages) goodness knows how many times, including several times in the past 25,000 years - just yesterday in geological time. And thats more than 2, 4, 10 degrees.

So the climate changes without man's influence pretty easily, and often.

The current studies of man made or man-dominated climate change is a study of one occurrence, still in progress. Having being in science all my adult life, with a couple of degrees to help (FWTW!), I don't know of any credible scientific study that has a study population of one. That is, you study one object or one happening and declare it unusual or different.

I want to reduce pollution. You know, when I went to school, I was taught the "Icehouse effect" as being in progress, where the earth was cooling because of solar radiation being reflected away. But my view is, I'm not convinced that man's contribution to the current phase of the ever-changing climate is worth us garroting ourselves and our economy.

... especially when, even in Labor's policy was put fully into effect, it wouldn't make any difference!

These seem to be an interesting R&D development

Great finally an expert who knows what they are talking about thanks for chipping in on this climate debate. As to policies well IMO the ALP lost the election on their lefty lunacy socialist policies, especially the climate policy madness that would not make a lick of difference but would destroy our economy for what. Nothing

Of course if you close down the coal fired stations, the 'battery of the nation' sorta goes flat.
If coal-fired power stations are SO vital to the future of this country, why did governments sell them off? The current owners are making commercial decisions to close the old ones down: disingenuous of the current gov to complain about their closure (a bit like the Libs blaming the then government for the tragic deaths of pink batts workers - the employers should have been charged with manslaughter).

  • Agree
Reactions: Hvr
... or watched videos of the unrelenting anti-female attacks from the Murdoch Press & Alan Jones. The Murdoch Press in Brisbane is showing front page photos of Annastacia Palaszczuk with an overlay of crosshairs captioned "You're next".
You left out Richo, Nick Reese, Stephen Conroy.... All presenters on the so-called Murdoch TV.

Thanks for the confirmation that you really don’t understand the science. At all.

That’s the more charitable interpretation, as opposed to, say, stubborn political bias.

We made our clients a veritable motza, I think the people who keep talking up Antony Green are perhaps a little naive as to what goes on in the private sector.

One client had a magnificent scenario of AG calling it on Saturday and then things gradually evolving through Monday morning... man that would have been fun.

Our average client was betting on a bigger bump in AUD/JPY. If that had all gone to plan most of us would have been retiring in July. If the aforementioned hero scenario had come to pass, we would probably have bought and sold an airline or two by Tuesday morning.

It’s a no brainer why they sold them. Money. Many government assets have been sold. Big part of how NSW got back into the black. Closing down because they are getting past use by date and I wonder if the climate change alarmists are getting to them or they were hoping for a labour win and big government subsidies to build bird bashers and reflectors

If coal-fired power stations are SO vital to the future of this country, why did governments sell them off? The current owners are making commercial decisions to close the old ones down:

When the power stations were privatised, no-one dreamed that there would be a movement to economic suicide to close them.

Power stations have a finite life. Towards the end, you can shut them early or prolong them with added capital. But when they close, most can be replaced.

Some can't - like Leigh Creek in SA which was in an isolated position, with a tied coal mine that got depleted. Some can - but at least one in NSW was closed before it had to be as the owner could make more money by its renewables business if it squeezed the energy supply. So yes, it was a commercial decision :)

But you can build new coal stations in the Hunter etc. And because of scale and reliability, the cost per MW will be lower than the equivalent capacity built for solar and wind.

Would you believe I once ran a renewable energy company? :) So I got pretty heavily into the economics of renewables, fossil fuels, energy grid, the NEM etc. I met Malcolm Turnbull in Canberra once, when he was Minister for the Environment. He offered us $5 mill but unfortunately lost the 2007 election; so he's not all bad.

And as there are couple of people here who I like and respect in the forum, and who I have been crossing swords with, I shall retire and say ( hopefully) see you in the lounge :)
