Received an email from Flybuys today which contained a summary of my points gathering for 2017. Not had anything similar previously.

Stated that I'd earned close to 35,000 flybuys for 2017. I assume this figure is correct. But it also stated that my points gathering activities put me in the top 5% in my local area (Wollongong), NSW and for the whole of Australia. Given I really don't actively pursue Flybuys in the same way I chase QFF and AMEX MR points I found this very surprising. Seems there must be a very large number of people in Australia who don't earn many Flybuys each year. 35,000 really isn't many points at all.

Found this also very surprising:

'You scanned your flybuys card 18 times in 2017

• 1,000 Standard points

• 34,000 BONUS POINTS'

Just received my Flybuys 2017 Year in Review

Never underestimate the value of Flybuys BONUS POINTS

91000 Flybuys Points of which 87000 were BONUS POINTS which converted to nearly 40K Velocity Points...not a bad haul for a single person

TOP 1% in Australia , NSW & my suburb

How did you go ?

Got an email from Flybuys this afternoon (very similar to the Virgin Velocity one late last year), giving data on points earned etc.

I know I’m going to be bottom of the pile of members here, but will be interested to see how others went

I've also received a Year in Review email. I was surprised at how much of the points total was made up of bonus points. Approximately 33,000 points of which 30500 were bonus points.

My points total would be pretty depressing if it weren't for the bonuses!

A few people were adding their totals on another thread but this may be worth a separate thread i suppose..

Looks like FB and VFF must be sharing some marketing people as this is very similar to the VFF email sent out a few months ago.

Earned just over 65k FB last year year and all converted to VFF during the 15% bonus promos.

Only top 2% for Australia. I should not have rejected a couple of the 10k promotions once the weekly spends got too high...

I would have thought 270 card scans will be hard to beat.

• 45,066 Standard points
• 551,173 BONUS POINTS
252,973 Total Points collected in August …What an outstanding month!
54 Velocity Frequent Flyer Status Credits on your shop. Hope to see you in the lounge soon!
Top 1% in all locations
You scanned your flybuys card 480 times in 2017

Not bad!! Thanks to those bonuses! :) :)

On my account 6% of the points were base points and 94% were bonus points
I was in the top 2% for each category

On my partner's account 3% of the points were base points and 97% were bonus points
My partner was in the top 4% for each category

I earned more points but didn't have as high a bonus points rate as some of my transactions were KMart Tyre and Auto, K Mart and Target where it is hard to get a high rate of bonus points compared to base points.

If you combine our totals we would probably be in the top 1% across each location. It's more profitable to have separate accounts.

I was also surprised to be in top 1% in Australia but top 2% in Queensland as I do flip between Coles and Woolworths.
80159 points of which 74834 were bonus points.
55 velocity status credits
Scanned card 48 times in the year

102438 points of which 90564 bonus points
26 Velocity sc
Top 1% in all categories
Scanned card 96 times.

I have my card linked to Velocity FF gaining Status Credits.
If I have no other linked Credit Cards - will my Velocity account stay active based solely on the few SCs I get?
