One reason for wishing you had the titanium card...

Seriously though, you may as well make use of the rapid replacement that amex pride themselves on. Especially with another promo to exploit.

Yes and rapid replacement huh...

I have tried to take advantage of that 3 times now when things have gone wrong and it's a joke.

If I want a card tomorrow it's the dodgy temporary one and I'll have to pick it up from the city myself. I can wait for a courier but that will be on Tuesday....

If I want a proper platinum card it will take 3-5 working days

Their customer service is no better than a bank, but they get some credit for allowing me to get a card the next day albeit a temporary bluey type card.

**UPDATE**

AMEX will ring me by COB tommorrow (Fri 14th Aug) & let me know.

Amex CSO rang on Fri & said:

'Mr (um,skybolt) I have investigated this promo & the allocation of points has been done in error. You will be advised what will happen which includes the points being removed'

I'm just the messenger. Thats what he said. The whole thing has been a big 'boo boo'.

I did mention in post 134 the possibility of the IT guys releasing the promo in error/early.

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Will be interesting to see how they deal with it, and what they do.

In any case, hopefully it points toward an upcoming promotion

Well FWIW it's Monday and I have lots of transactions but no bonus points credited.

So it seems that Amex have wised up fairly quickly on this one; probably a good idea if they still intend on saving some face.

Sometimes it's better to keep quiet about such things ... :-|

My bet is they will honour them. I agree the IT/promo people have jumped the gun & fired off a bit early. They will prob shorten the promo period by the time it was released early.

If they took a zillion points off people they would look like prize dills!!

I hope when you contacted them that you were only referring to your own situation - and not suggesting that there are hundreds of cardholders out there who are also receiving bonus points. Thus, hoping Amex think its only a few errors only and allowing the majority of us who kept quiet, to keep their points (and I've only received 2K so far).

Honouring them is good but it would have been sooooooooper sweet if we all racked up tens (or even hundreds) of thousands of points first!

Hmm, I find amusing the thought of some people on this board who appear to have devoted their weekend going from shop to shop using their card for bonus points which they may well not be getting.

When will they get it right....?

Depends on what "right" is. Given that processing appeared to be based on some manual intervention, perhaps it should have been happening.

Still seems to me of having been fired off early!

Mileage Run, Mattress Run and now aMex Run - that is the game we play.

Given that there was another thread that mentioned a big promotion coming in September to encourage everyday spending (in Supermarkets/Petrol Stations etc etc) it certainly sounds plausible that it's linked in with that.

Oh well, time to run down all the supplies between now and September I guess in preparation.

Actually I rang & mentioned your name.Alanslegal.

What do you think. What a stupid post

I rang:

1. Premium QF hotline.
2. MR hotline
3. Customer Service hotline

with the question 'when does this promo end?'

No one has a clue. They did not even know it existed in the first place.
Why oh why would you ring and ask when they are going to finish a promotion they have not even announced :?:

I would go so far as to say Often it's better to keep quiet about such things ...

An inappropriate and unnecessary post :!:

"When does this promotion end?" is a vastly different question to "are you giving points away by mistake". Given its similarity to a previous promo, it seems like a valid question, bearing in mind that Amex are known to read this board ;)
