as another data point, I hit the minimum spend on this card within 24 hours of receiving the card. The 100k points just arrived in a lump sum today, which was the 2nd cycle of points posted to Qantas.

happy days.

Hit the $5000 spend. Hopefully the bonus points will be credited next cycle :D Cant wait :D

This offer seems to have changed to 80K points incidentally Altitude Black | Westpac Credit Cards but fee is reduced by $200.
Note: the above link does NOT have this condition but a number of other Westpac Altitude Black links now say "Existing Westpac customers who currently hold an Altitude Platinum or Altitude Black credit card, or who have held one in the last 12 months, are not eligible for this offer."

So if applying I suggest
a) you use my link above and/or check yours carefully that this condition is not there if you have or had the card recently
b) PDF the conditions

This now looks a pretty reasonable deal to me @ 0.25 cents a point, much better than the original 0.395 cents. I'll replace my ANZ Black with this before the Amex earn is lost to 'enhancement'...

The only question is will Westpac be enhancing this card inline with ANZs black offering?

Based on everybody’s past experiences, how pedantic are Westpac when it comes to the wording on the 12-month exclusion clause?

I churned a standard Westpac Qantas Altitude card last October for a point offer (not an Altitude Platinum or Altitude Black). The page says that “Existing Westpac customers who currently hold an Altitude Platinum or Altitude Black credit card, or who have held one in the last 12 months, are not eligible for this offer.”

If I apply for the black card this time, am I right in assuming that they will have to honour the 80,000 point offer?

You should be fine, but maybe ask them instead of taking the word of one of us. What was the regular Altitude offer at the time?

THanks Kangol. Probably best I confirm.

The regular altitude offer was 50k points, no annual fee (for existing customers)

Equal to the Platinum?!

Currently Plat has 60k bonus/3k spend/$150 annual fee.
It recently had 50k bonus/2.5k spend/no annual fee.
Prior to that, it was 40k bonus/possibly 2k spend?/no annual fee

Hi Folks. Question to anyone who has this card...Point Hacks reports its possible to sign up for the Qantas points, (80,000 vs only 40,000 velocity points via Altitude rewards), but then switch over to Altitude rewards where the earn rates for Qantas or Velocity are the same. Can I ask anyone has this been done? Basically I'd like to pocket the Qantas bonus points but earn Velocity from then onwards.

Well looks like I managed to sneak into this 100K promo and it's paid off. I applied in the very last couple of days of the offer and the points hit yesterday after 2 statement cycles.

Additionally I found a message on my latest statement with regards to the reduction in points earn that I hadn't seen published anywhere else-

"IF YOU OPENED YOUR ACCOUNT FROM 1/01/17 TO 30/04/17 YOU WILL CONTINUE TO ENJOY THE CURRENT POINTS EARN RATE UNTIL 1/11/17."

So looks like for some of us the higher points earn will remain for a while to come yet. Might hang on to this one for a little longer now.

Funny, as a Westpac Qantas Black card customer, this is the first I've heard of this. Lucky I kept my Amex Gold Business card...

How long did it take to get approved once payslips were sent in and how long did the cards take to arrive?
thanks

Approval + cards arrival took about 2-3 weeks. There was not intermediate approval notification given.

My approval took about 1 day after payslips went in, then cards took about another week to arrive.

I've cancelled this card recently and didn't end up using the priority pass vouchers. Anyone any experience in trying to use them after the card has been cancelled? I opened the free account and added the passes, the first year hasn't expired yet, just never used them before I needed to churn the card... Had assumed that I'd lose them, but have an unexpected trip that they would come in handy on if they will still work...
