Posting on two sites does make it very difficult and I can see by your posting count on the other site that you contribute a lot. :D

I am often amazed at some of the posting counts that are on FT. IIRC ozstamps has over 25000 posts over there, and some of his posts are quite lengthy, well thought out arguments. That is a lot of writing.....

I'll see you in about 22.5 hours. We'll be getting there around 10am now, as the DFO on Airport Drive is having a Boxing Day sale. If it's like any other "sale" they've had, it'll mean trafic chaos...
No worries Lindsay, see you then.

That is an awful lot of typing. :?

I cannot fathom some of the posting counts on FT. :? Someone called Doc, I think, has the highest post count at ~45,000. Then there is Dovster(sorry if got handle wrong) with a huge count plus many others with well over 10,000 posts. Our own Kiwi Flyer has well over 10,000, NM and Dave Noble have close to 7,000 and I think Lindsay (QF WP) close to 4,000.

I don't know where they find the time to juggle work, social life and FT forum. Could be FT forum is their social life.

I know FT just passed by the 5,000,000 posts on the site, so this site has quite a way to get there.

I think you might be onto something about the social life being the FT forum :)

I dont sleep much and a lot of posting is while I am away - or in transit somewhere (like right now).

And yes, have met a lot of people through FT. Well over 100.

It does not look that way does it?

Not only the silly season but tis also the festive season as well. :? Let them all have their fun and we not worry about post count until end of the year.

Looks like you were right. The posting count on here has slowed to somewhat of a crawl.

Well on a similar topic, AFF has reached another milestone which you may or may not have noticed...

There are now 1500 registered users.

It looks like the the 1500th user is DaveyJ - does he get a prize?!

Cheers,

Wow. That's a few people.

After meeting Lindsay in BNE and being kindly invited to the fisrt class lounge, sampling the HP, crown lagger and fetta cheese, on Monday 26th Dec I have now officially met 2 people on aff.

That's because NM's quiet and JohnK and I are both away.

Greetings from Negril, Jamaica where it's 9pm on Wednesday night and raining - just like home really.

Found out about Kerry Packer when I touched down in LAX (my parents hadSMS'ed me). Then got another SMS to say my sister-in-laws' father had died -so not a happy start as we can't be there for the funeral.

I've been away for about a week and it appears that things have come to a grinding halt :!:

I hope this meens that everyone is off enjoying the holidays. If so go for it everyone and best wishes for 2006. :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Seems that way.

I might have to cut my holiday short to get our posting count back up again. :D  It is very hard trying to compete with flyer talk.

Well who knows, maybe everyone will come back from their holidays with a fire in their belly, already to get to work on posting more stuff.

And it sounds like a few people owe us some trip reports ;)

Why compete? It's a different site with a different type of information.

I have been able to gain and give plenty from and to both sites.

It was this site that led me to FT about 13 months ago; back then my only status was with QF (SG) and Thrifty Silver VIP :!: .

I now have morphed my QF status to WP & added HHonors & Starwood Gold to my profile. Upon reflection, I may have gained QF WP from information on AFF but the hotel levels were gained from information that is not really covered here.

FWIW, AFF is a great site for information about Australian Credit Cards and associated Reward schemes with far more relevant information than FT.

Agreed entirely, while the breadth of information may be greater on FT, the Australian focus here is great. I have found valuable information on both sites. Good for credit card info here, good for hotel info there, and good for airline info in both places.

Sorry serfty I was only joking about competition. :D

Both sites have their advantages and their weaknesses and the information required from each site would be different for most people. I was reading through Kiwi Flyer's 5,000,000 post thread on FT (which took me a while) and ended up in the DFW get together thread in April (I think) plus a few other threads of no interest to me yet kept reading through them. Very easy to get side tracked on FT.

I knew I should have had more of these thingies after my initial comment :D  :D :p :? :D :(  :p  :D

I just wonder if we should have a quota on the use of emoticons so some people don't go overboard using them

Me too. Speaking of which I have posted a bit more of my trip report. Still a wee bit behind (not time for FT or AFF lately).
