- On QF the earn rate however is nothing better than $5.75/ SC that is still twice as expensive than doing YUP / KUP ex HNL. - exDFW - exSFO

There are always starclass specials when they come up. A recent one was CNS-NRT for $500 that would earn 120SC

You hope the specials will be back? This is the first time I have seen the ex-TPE specials disappear. But the writing has been on the walls for a while as the specials have been increasing consistently.

Not the weekend that just passed.

By the way the loads in business class have been quite low at the times I have travelled so not sure where the reported high loads are coming from....

yes because you're few flights on services where I class is available is indicative of the overall load factor?

I don't care either way about it, Im happy to pay the fares as they are now.

still good deals around anyway if you look:

I did not say I was not happy. I have found exactly what I need and I am also prepared to pay a little extra for it as frankly the alternatives are poor.

For various reasons I am not going to advertise my findings just like a lot of people keep their KUP/YUP findings to themselves.

That is good news.

Unfortunately I do not have the luxury of searching for last minute specials as I only have 3-4 trips to Thailand a year and I do not want to waste too much time getting to/from TPE and then waste time on the status run as well.

I need to be able to fit status runs into my schedule and need to plan months in advance. One also needs to factor in costs involved to get to TPE.

Wow , That is and Earn rate of $1.8/SC. Can you please share what month did you do it ? Did you use a travel agent / airline website / travel website ? Anything else that can help my pursuit.

Thanks in advance.

best KUP I have been able to find has an earn rate of $1.61/SC
ex HNL to Caribean...

That's the spirit

Sorry but i'm inclined to agree with JohnK here.

It's all good to assist others with their SC runs, and i'm happy to do so, but I only do it via PM.

Too many of the awesome runs have long dried up, possibly because of people like us exploiting them, and the airlines knowing we're doing so thanks to sites like this.

Thanks for your opinion. I don't mind sharing, i wouldnt have known about the 10,000 point giveaways over at onepath insurance for next to nicks if it wasn't for the active discussion here. I am happy to share what I know in return. Did you take advantage of that Onepath deal too?

I don't see anyone saying not to share. The point made was about how one shares information. It's good that you like to share. But do it in public and the good deals are likely to disappear. A relatively easy concept.

The onepath insurance thing is openly advertised on the qantas website. Easy to find and then requires a bit of imagination to work out the details.

And AA instant upgrade fares are published fares available to anyone and available on the AA website. easy to find and requires a bit of imagination to work out the details.

Why dazz81? Why should I spend hours of my time researching so I can just post for someone to take advantage of it? And most times the people that take advantage of these deals don't even bother posting anything on AFF simply satisfying their own greed and then come on AFF with one post saying thank you for all that great information I am now Platinum and off to enjoy the First Lounges.

And then there are others who do not even bother to do any research but want the whole itinerary or status run deal mapped out for them as they do not understand or are too busy.

You call that spirit? I call it greed and selfishness!

I am a sucker but I am also a little greedy. Anyway we are not likely to agree on this topic and there is no point discussing it further.

By the way I have helped heaps of people and they know who they are which is more than enough for me.

Sorry but i'm inclined to agree with JohnK here.

In my opinion sharing credit card or bonus deals and airfares are two entirely different things.

Airfares are very volatile.

Actually it's more complicated than that.

AA.com will generally only show up to 4 segments each way. It's tough to repeat on AA.com - for ease one really needs access to a GDS like SABRE to maximise these.

For example on the PAP run posted, the fare has the following routing rules:

Code:
V FARE BASIS BK FARE TRAVEL-TICKET AP MINMAX RTG
  1 KUP7CR I‡X 583.00 ---- 7/1 -/ - WH01

MPM is "Maximum Permitted Mileage" which in this case basically means travel can be with segment distances totalling up to 6688 miles each way (Great Circle distance of ~5500 miles) with "Mileage" discounts depending upon the route taken.

i.e. The route (hnl-lax-las-dfw-ord-jfk-mia-pap) is 7191 miles but there is deduction of 260 miles for ORD (CHI) and 750 for DFW bring it down below the MPS>

Yes serfty I know about MPM - thankyou.

Its still a publicly available airfare anyways.

As far as sharing these fares I have no problem.

They are not 'mistake' fares, they are properly filed and can vary depending upon markets.

This above fare is relatively cheap as few wish to head to Haiti at the moment.

...
Having access to SABRE and being able set up and book these fares puts me in no doubt that you would know about MPM.

I was posting that for the edification of other readers of the forum.

now you are worried about people being in the lounge JohnK? You are the one who hauls complete strangers into lounges just to 'stick it' to Qantas.
I did not say I was worried.

Feel free to post your finds as that is your right. No one is holding that against you.

But please appreciate that some of us like to keep some things to ourselves.

And before I get flamed again do you realise how hard it is to get 80A, 80K, 71D and 50AC on an A380? Thanks to online forums such as AFF people are now informed and try to book these seats as soon as they book their flights. Even exit rows are hard to get and these require payment.

So for years as a Platinum I had no issues getting bulkhead, or even exit row, in my travels and now I have to struggle to stay on top of things or travel in business class. Well I cannot afford business class so I travel economy and just pray that bulkheads are available for my flights.

Please keep it civil people , I request you all to help me with my post but only if you wish to , all help is highly appreciated.

dazz81 , I thank very very much you for your help - for giving me route idea's. As this will be my first status run - I really value the knowledge and experience that Experienced Frequent Flyer's have to share here i.e only if they wish to.

JohnK , I assure you that I am spending a great deal of time doing research and taking all your advice very seriously , but on the other hand as I am relatively less experienced , I appreciate the help and knowledge shared here. Well this forum was created to help all in the Frequent Flyer Community.

I solemnly thank everyone who has posted on this thread , I am also highly appreciative of the time / energy that you have invested in helping me out.
