I believe the First check in can only check people in for international QF flights - you'll have to go to the domestic terminal to check in as your first flight is domestic.

There will be some issues if you’re an Australian citizen but try to enter/exit Australia on a foreign passport. Agree with the comments about travelling on your Aus passport.

My corporate agent does mixed airline bookings for me sometimes, and in these I see both the QF and VA flights in the QF app. I only get QF lounges and SCs with the QF flights, and VA lounges and SCs with VA.
