To all the newly-minted Platinum One frequent flyers out there... I'm curious to hear... what's been your experience so far?

Anything different?

Free upgrades?

... or all hype?

For the MONA tour and dinner last year received an immediate email acknowledging registration and thanking me for accepting; noted further details of my experience, including private ferry transfer would be provided in the week of the event - which is what happened. I reckon it's the email you get when an invitation is locked-in.

I agree. It’s locked in with the email response I got too.
This is some of the text
“Thank you for your acceptance. Ticketing details will be sent via email approximately 24-48 hours prior to the concert.”

Previous events I have accepted have had similar wording.

And if I recall correctly the email also said if the details of my acceptance changed (ie my +1 or ability to attend at all) to contact the VIP team directly as soon as possible. Another sign it's confirmed.

Anyway, congrats to you both. Not really my cup of tea but no doubt will be quite an experience!

indeed. Apparently I am the envy of thousands of teenage girls (and others) everywhere. Not a situation I ever contemplated for my life 🤣

I think the show will be amazing entertainment, plus the corporate box hospitality too.. so I may not be a Swiftie but am grateful for this amazing opportunitiy.

Knowing my luck I'll probably be invited to Nickelback.
Speaking as someone who has actually seen Nickelback in concert (yup, I just admitted to that 😜), I have to say you could be invited to worse… Of course you could be invited to much better too!

Yes, just got that. It's a good one forvan overnight to AYQ, stay abd dinner at Sails etc.

I note they call it a "demonstration" flight due to the certification issue.

New A220 competition email for P1s.
Edit: whoops, didn't read properly for those outside of NSW 😂

What if I enter “because I will accept this as a consolation prize given you didn’t show me any Tay Tay love” - 18 words. Too sour grapes?

And why not just offer it to Sydney P1s? Not all of us elsewhere have nothing better planned for two days with a week’s notice to get to NSW. Yeah I’m being cynical.

Well, the fine print does say theyll provide flights to SYD in J if avail or Y

Plus often some people are unhappy if things are too SYD or MEL centric, so I reckon this is a small way to address that potentially.

Previous comps have included interstate J return and hotel accommodation the night before.

For the 100yr centenary comp all of the P1 winners were interstate and flown in.

Didn’t receive a P1 comp email yesterday (TAS based). A chap at the lounge mentioned he’d received one.

No taytay, no comp… not feeling the love at the moment!

The Yin and Yan of Qantas and their premium product

Great experience in business on QF775 MEL to PER. Big greeting on board. Brilliant crew - lots of banter. Endured the terrible new safety announcement (eight uses of “Magic”) and then Gin was in hand pretty much before the wheels were up, then snacks, good wines, free gifts for loyalty (playing cards and keyring) and perfectly fine smoked Texan Brisket for lunch!

Then the flight back….. QF cancelled everything and bumped me onto QF10. Had to check in bag because of liquids. Endured the two different tandem security checks at PER international (ie domestic followed by international - contrast my recent experience in ZQN where they have achieved what is apparently impossible in PER and separated Domestic and international in the same terminal into two different parallel sections - remarkable). Then huge wait while Border Farce stroll to work to look at one’s passport. Then the indignity of the PER international business lounge - with the top provision being a quite alarming looking Frankfurter 🌭 covered in “stuff”. Boarding QF10 utter chaos as premium and non premium all mixed up and no attempt to fix. Was asked to play seat chess as someone was in the wrong seat. Refused to play. Got seated, gave up waiting and asked for Champagne. Flustered looking CSM arrived and said that they were very busy. Took off late, tried the white onion soup - salty and inedible. Then battled through MEL international arrivals and giant queue to finally get out….

Admittedly the airport stuff isn’t all QFs fault - although I wouldn’t have had to go on QF10 if QF flights actually flew as scheduled… but even so they still have a way to go…

It's interesting that many get cards and small gufts onboard at times, and others get nothing.. thiugh if one got a card every flight it would get dull quick I guess.

Good 'ol Consistently Inconsistent(tm)
