Using Lavatories in Flight not in your Cabin Class?

WP treatment in Y

I'm still baffled what that has to do with WP's flying whY? there is a whole plane full of numpties who think they can use any toilet, including other pax in your class of travel, what if one of them has taken the fin review in with them?

If your whole flight experience is hinging on getting direct access to the toilet when you need it then i then ill go out on a limb and say that there is nothing that can appease you.

Realistically what do you expect QF (or any airline for that matter) to do?
Do you want QF to have a toilet guard? perhaps scan your BP for Toilet entry? I know a few Tongan guys who make great bouncers, they can have a little red rope and let people in accordingly. ;)

See posts #232 / #236 to see why I 'stirred the pot' here.

A WP sitting in (Int) UD Y, after enjoying a cup of expresso in fine china - courtesy of the J service - just stood up and nonchalantly strode towards the PE lav in front - not even a glance at the Y loo located at his rear [I was sitting across the aisle from him].

Regarding your rather drastic 'toilet guard' thought bubble, I'd suggest none here is saying anything remotely like that.

It is more about self respect and being aware of one's boundaries, rather than a grandiose sense of self worth erroneously bestowed upon oneself courtesy of the WP status.

As some had commented earlier, the 'any loo' access has somehow been equated with a desire for 'look at me' recognition simply because one happens to be a WP*.

Many here, I included, does not like to commit, nor tolerate, such boundary transgressions as it is not part of the ticket / status package.

The curtains, ropes and/or written signs are clearly indicative of cabin boundaries which include the use of lavatories.

Of course, I am aware of possible exceptions but in the examples that Princess Fiona, Amaroo, Mel_User and I saw, there was no possibility of any exception at all.

It is so simple to test this out on your next flight.

Ask the FA to use the F / J lavs while sitting in Y (because you're a WP, not because of anything else like incontinence or a blocking cart etc ...) and, please, report to us their reaction.

I'm out of this thread !

*: if so, the W is so apt !

Is that reasonable?
No it is not reasonable. We should let people suffer because some people are very protective of their cabin.

So when the drinking water runs out in economy there is no way the crew should get more drinking from business.

How about when the economy lavatories break down? Everybody in economy should hold it for the rest of the flight because some of the precious "premium" passengers think everyone else is beneath them?

Re: WP treatment in Y

So I just purchased business class/first class tickets and I don't care who uses which lavatory.

Extremely simple as I see it but I can see this topic is just going around and around in circles.

Re: WP treatment in Y

There will always be those who put the W in WP. They know who they are, and so do we. They're the kind you wouldn't have over for dinner.

As for the toilets, stay in your own cabin unless invited by an FA.

IMHO the p***ing on the floor that goes on in aircraft toilets is of greater concern to me, although much less prevalent in F/J... Hmm, wonder why that is...

Re: WP treatment in Y

So let me get this straight, a higher number of users breeds disrespectful and abhorrent behaviour in higher quantities?

If that is your take on my comment so be it.

However, very simplistically, if each user has a 2% likelihood of splashage, each user has the same well mannered likelihood of rectifying said splashage and there are 30% more users per throne, there is 60% more splashage per throne.

Re: WP treatment in Y

I had my first WP international flight yesterday/today (QF 93). Had a nice greeting from the CSM or CSS (missed the exact intro) and when asked if there was anything she could do I said "nah I'll be right". Later on, after the lunch/dinner meal, I wondered whether I could get an espresso from up the front rather than the filter coffee. When I asked "you don't happen to have any espresso coffee do you?" I got a polite "no, sorry". The person serving the tea/coffee wasn't the one I had the greeting from at the start of the flight though. Maybe I could have flagged down the greeter, but that seemed like too much of a fuss.

Anyone asked for good coffee as part of their "anything I can do for you"? I'm thinking I'd rather that than the possible glass of champagne!

Yes, I've done this when they've asked if they could bring me a drink from up the front - I've said no, thanks, but if there's any chance I could get an espresso when you're doing the coffee service, that would be amazing. They've always been happy to oblige.

Re: WP treatment in Y

FWIW the CSM on todays flight came around to apologise for having to close the curtain and mentioned to those sitting in rows 4-5 they could use tha lavatories at the front. :p

Not one of the 12 business class passengers objected.

Re: WP treatment in Y

Actually there's less chance of spill from women. I wonder the % of females in each class.

Re: WP treatment in Y

When I sit at 4C/D on a 737, sometimes the sun reflects on the TV screen and I use the J class screen to watch the news. Some nice CSMs leave the curtain open for me. I guess it qualifies as a WP/P1 treatment in Y. I hope no one sitting in J mind sharing the TV screen with me ;)

Re: WP treatment in Y

The fellow I had to wait for was neither old, pregnant or looked out of shape - but you never know! Walking down & then upstairs would eliminate quite a few worthy passengers.

Put simply - the bloke was a free loader....the same type that think it's alright to park in a handicap spot:evil:

I didn't see anyone from behind the curtain move forward.......makes me think this all revolves around entitlement issues from the middle class;)

The thing is, as you yourself said, you never know. Can you tell by looking at someone if they have Crohn's disease, or another inflammatory bowel disease, or bladder cancer, or a kidney problem? If so, you could make yourself very useful diagnostically.

but if any one had a serious condition like that they would select a seat right by the WC, not rely on being able to use the facilities in a higher cabin.

You really think non status people get the chance to select such seats or even have the knowledge to do so?

Elderly friends of ours, at check in asked to be located near the WC as she had a disturbed stomach. The check in people duly obliged. They boarded and sat down. Then an FA approached them and said that due to health concerns they'd have to leave the plane. They then had to stay overnight until a Dr said they were ok for travel.

LOL. I can tell when someone has walked down the stairs walked into a F toilet, removed their PJ's and come out smiling as they walked back up the stairs.......this is the same type of tosser that has no problem parking their car in a blue zone.

These losers are everywhere!

Is there more to this? Just requesting to be seated near a toilet at check-in would not normally have you thrown off after boarding.

As much as I sympathise with the inconvenience caused to F pax by J pax using their precious toilet, it's not nearly as bad as parking the car in a blue zone without permit (I'm assuming you refer to disabled parking, not the uni blue zone parking).
