Vinomofo Wine Deals

Just ask and we can find anything out ;). I found out I have friend there...

Buzz, opened a bottle of the 2010 BP and it was fantastic! Loved it and so did all the people I shared it with. Thanks again!

Any clues? mof_ SECRET DEAL Cabernet 2010 - Vinomofo

A reasonable assumption.

With the information readily available I have narrowed it down to two choices:

  • Lindemans (Coonawarra) St George Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2010
  • [-]Wynns Coonawarra Estate Alex 88 Single Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2010[/-]

[-]The "built to age" and "new to the fo" comments suggest the Wynns, but the ratings and reviews almost exactly mimic the Lindemans. A drink by year of 2035 could be either, but that's what Halliday published for the Lindemans (2040 for Wynns).[/-]

Update - Looks like it probably is the Lindemans, Thanks Daver6.

Can't be the Wynns. Alcohol content doesn't match. Suspect its the Lindemans.

Ah clever - yes... That leaves one option then ;)

I could sware that Vinomofo had sold some kind of Lindemans before, but maybe that was something else.

Thoughts on the VIM secret deal, which everyone got today?

I am thinking it's another Lindemans, probably the Coonawarra Pyrus Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot Cabernet Franc 2010. The JH quote is the give-away on this one.

I am possibly tempted, but really need to start drinking more wine to keep up with my [over-]purchasing of late. The cellar is full

All signs point to the Lindemans (Coonawarra) Pyrus Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot Cabernet Franc:

Not really tempted. Cellar is full and plenty of other releases I'm looking forward to this year.

Any thoughts on the Black Market Pinot from Mornington today? Kooyong by any chance?

The Kooyong Single Vineyard(s) are $75 at Cellar Door, and Ben Edwards gave them 92, 94 & 95.

Given VM tend to quote the highest reference price and rating they can, I think it is NOT Kooyong.

The same problem for Yabby Lake Single Vineyard at $60 and 94 points from the big man himself.

It could be a smaller producer such as Polperro/Even Keel, Eldridge Estate or perhaps even Scorpo.

But I'm just guessing...

Given Halliday didn't like the the two single vineyard wines from Polperro (hence the CM rating of 93), they could be a good contender, and the price is right... But not enough information to be sure.

FWIW, I am tempted to get a case, don't really need any more wine though.

vinomofo say 5 star.

checking halliday's list for mornington, cant find anything from that list who sell at pinot for $45 flat, 13% alc.

apart from the price everything else lines up for :

Anyone have any ideas on the current Black Market GSM?

I reckon it will be the Kaesler. Like last time.

They really aren't giving you much, but the Kaesler meets the bill for what information is provided...

I have taken the plunge, so will report back in a few days.

I really should stop buying wine, but but at $90 for 12 bottles delivered, this is reasonably tempting as "BBQ fodder" as I have depleted my existing supply of Geoff Merrill's excellent "cheaper" wines.

Did anyone jump on the Pinot? - I was fence sitting then it was gone by the time I went back to buy it :( :(

I did the same with the Pinot - though about it for a while, decided to take the plunge an it was gone.... Still curious.

I did jump on the Pinot but it's yet to be delivered. Will let you know when it finally arrives. They often come back on at the end of month with free delivery.

The Black Market Cab which they just emailed /posted (mof_ Wisdom #2) looks suspiciously like the Wynns Coonawarra Estate "The Siding" Cabernet Sauvignon 2011

I should really do some work today and stop buying wine...

I think you're correct. I've seen it elsewhere for around $16. At $13.25 a bottle (with postage) it doesn't represent as good value as many of their other black market deals. For example:

Hewitson Private Cellar Shiraz Mataro 2010 Magnums @ $70 in November 2013
Mollydooker Carnival of Love 2010 @ $30 in November 2013

Are these black market deals becoming too popular?

Damn it - missed the Pinot again! I did buy the Kaesler last time and it looks suspiciously the same. Very good wine for the price ($7.50 a bottle)!
