Qantas HK Lounge

Qf has codeshares into PEK and CAN plus the 3K SIN flights (2-3 per day) in addition to the AU dailies

The only codeshare ex HKG is QF3953 to Mubai with Jet.

Just checking. I'm flying Cathay but on a Qantas classic award J booking. I'm a QP, so assuming I can use CX business or this new lounge?

As you are on a J fare, you can access any of the OW J lounges that are open.

QP isn't relevant as you are flying CX.

Reports of the HKG F lounge demise were (just) slightly premature.
I was in there earlier this evening but, according to the lounge ladies, "Tonight's the Night".
Now checking out the EK lounge which is of a similar size and ambience.

Go to the business lounge closest to your gate.

Unless of course you are like me and get bored after 15 minutes and want to visit all the lounges. ;)

I tried that in September, I left the CX Wing lounge early to go and try one of the CX lounges closest to my gate...big mistake. The place was an absolute zoo in there with standing room only.

I am guessing The Cabin?

Booking is in J, so you can use any of the OW J lounges. Perhaps try The Bridge if you are departing from a high-number gate. It's the brand new CX lounge, opened 2 weeks ago.

Thanks guys. It's a late night flight so might get to the airport as soon as the free champagne finishes in the club lounge of the hotel. :D

How does EK compare to CX lounges?

A good question although I suspect no comparison, EK have a standard lounge format re food and furnishings for all their lounges worldwide.

The EK lounge is located out near gate 40, so you generally wouldn't head out that way if you are on a QF flight. The new CX lounge called The Bridge just opened up near by 2 weeks ago, so if you're indeed heading out that way, perhaps you might want to try out that one first.

Nothing like a bit of rumour...

I'm currently in the HKG J lounge, and there is a large standing banner at the reception with the title "The Qantas Hong Kong Lounge". The fact that it's advertised in the J lounge reception prominently, and that there's no reference for the new lounge as J or F, I would guess that HKG will become the new SIN, where there's just going to be one lounge for everybody and no separate F lounge after the renovations. And perhaps this space I'm sitting in right now would also become a BA lounge?

As a OneWorld Sapphire traveller (i.e. not able to access the F lounges at HKG), I found the Qantas Hong Kong lounge to be very adequate. I did not check out the bubbles on offer, but other beverages were perfectly adequate, and the food was good with plenty of options including my favourite Char Sui Bao. I was happy to remain there and not both lounge hopping to the CX lounges. I did not have access to the EK lounge on this trip.

Which hotel will you be staying in?

Langham Place Mongkok. The value in the club rooms is amazing. Champagne (the real kind) 6pm until 8pm with wonderful canapés and alcohol etc during the afternoon. High Afternoon tea with handmade chocolates and pastries etc. We've been there twice now.

Seems you have your HKG trips well planned.

The HKG lounge redevelopment (mk 2) is planned to open in March - and as indicated by moa999 they'll be using the upper area for the new single class lounge.

Has the upper level being closed for this renovation as yet?
