Hi

I am arriving Hong Kong on CX from PER at 7:50AM. My next flight leaves at 4:00PM same day so I plan to go into the city for a while. As a QFF Platinum I have Cathay lounge access.

I will have my onward boarding pass so I can go through to the departures level and access the Cathay lounges. The question is, after showering and breakfasting in the departure lounge can I somehow got through immigration and exit the airpot

Yes you can, the lounge staff can escort you back to the arrivals level and you can head out into HKG.. I've done it twice in the past.

In June I was told this is no longer possible. But who knows what the official reason is..

As a WP the OP can use the Arrivals lounge where they can store bags too.

When you check in ask for an arrivals lounge pass. If granted then you go through immigration to the arrivals lounge and shower etc, leave your bags there, go to town and collect them later that day when you return for your next flight.

You can shower and eat a la carte in the Arrivals Lounge. No invitation pass required, just show boarding pass and perhaps WP card.

Because you're flying into HKG on CX, The Arrival is the easiest option. It's not a particularly flash lounge, but in terms of a shower, shave and quick snack before heading into town, it's a good option. I've used it a few times.

+1 for The Arrivals, quick shower and you can grab a bite from their menu before going upstairs and grabbing the train into the city.

using the departure lounges then re-exiting will be time consuming.

Many thanks to all who replied.

I'll try the Arrivals lounge. It'll be something new having tried all of the QF and CX business and first lounges on previous visits. I might even be daring and go for a Frequent Visitor card.

I believe the FVC is available to various categories of travellers including oneworld emeralds and those who have been through HKG a few times in certain time spans. GovHK: Immigration Clearance through e-Channels

Arrivals lounge is adequate. No booze though. Good for a shower and bit of food.
