Things people say about QF / EK

In the digital age it is a simple matter of opening one's smart phone and demonstrating the folly of those statements.
I have found a very effective retort for silly statements like " QF don't fly to LHR any more " ....... Yes they do !
( then shut up) or my favourite is " I bet you $1000.00 they do" you would be surprised how many people stop when confronted with backing their spurious claims with money

...
QF just raised the points costs for all their flights and now you can't book an international flight to anywhere for less than a million points ...

The new booking engine, with the hidden classic awards tick box, would make the million point comment seem correct.
...

FWIW, the new booking engine was supposed to integrate classic points redemption options more logically but the software vendor was unable to have this completed in time for the June 26 go-live.

i.e. The check-box for classic awards is an interim solution and should disappear soon enough.

As to how they are to be integrated was not clear.

Given they gave us this in June, I can only imagine the state it was in back in April!

Yeah. The last / current advertising program is about earning points with QFF partners. QF is no longer in the game of actually advertising themselves to get people on planes.

Just how pathetic can you get?

RooFlyer, I'm intrigued:
1. is there anything about QF that you like?
2. given your overwhelmingly negative mindset, why on earth do you fly with them?

Not sure this is correct.

Yes, there is currently an advertising campaign being run using "Curiosity" - together with a blitz inflight, too - but there's also another running in parallel with the "junk pile" of inclusions when you fly with QF.

What I've yet to see is "Curiosity" confirming that Jetstar is merely a partner in QFF ....

John Phelan. I have liked Qantas very much. They have been my international airline of choice for over 30 years and domestic since Ansett karked it. My database tells me that I've flown with them about 41% of all sectors flown and 50% by distance in the past 15 years (1.8 mill km total and counting).

I like their safety record, the obvious skill and professionalism of their crews, their 'Australian-ness' when flying international and their F lounges and the new-ish SIN lounge. If I didn't like Qantas (in general) I wouldn't give a stuff about the current debacles and you wouldn't hear anything from me.

Do you understand that, I wonder?

I AM extremely negative about Qantas at the moment. The web site 'enhancement' cough-up; the silly degradation of some in flight services (eg Café breakfast); the degradation of QFF services (MASA for example), the silly spin that's put out. The sheer mindlessness of some changes - making the web site optimised for tablets and phones, to the detriment of regular PC monitors - RATHER THAN having a web site that self adapts to the type of device being used for example. The insultingly obvious slow strangulation of Any Seat Awards at Classic prices - rather than just being transparent about the need to get rid of them to increase profitability, as another example.

I want Qantas to be profitable, as I want it to be around in 5, 10 and 20 years. Constantly coughing up the web site and other service deployments and degrading services isn't going to achieve that, so I rail against them. You may continue to say 'no biggie' or 'tut tut' - and good luck to you. I happen to be passionate about preserving Qantas as a decent airline, so I'm vocal.

Well, actually, I'm not at the moment! :( I do vote with my feet and my flying dollars. I've achieved WP requal 4 months into my year, so my international flights over the next 3 months are on UA (F to USA), Finnair (J to Europe #) and Emirates (F to Jordan via DXB). I got to Air Canada's 'Super Elite 100K' in short time last year when I got jack of QF to LAX.
# OK, its QF to connect with AY in SIN, but AY code share!

Domestically, its been mainly Virgin for some time, including J when the client springs for it.

Put all that in your pipe and smoke it.

making the web site optimised for tablets and phones

It's not even very well "optimised" when the site will only appear vertically on the tablet and won't swing around if the tablet is being held horizontally.

And as for the loss of drop down dates and instead now requiring multiple clicks for forward booking dates, don't get me started.

Thinking about this it may be an unintended consequence of the failure to have the classic award engine integrated.

(On the other hand (putting on the tin hat) is may have been deliberate that "use points" would be misconstrued.)
