I was at dinner last night and was 'knowledgeably' informed of the following things by some semi-regular QF pax. They insisted that all these statements are true even after I said didn't think so. I didn't push it for the sake of being sociable.

QF no longer fly to LHR

The QFF programme was sold a couple of years ago and is now operated by a company not related to QF

You can't get a beer on a QF dom flight any more

QF just raised the points costs for all their flights and now you can't book an international flight to anywhere for less than a million points

The EK configuration in Y is 2-4-2.

Oh Dear Oh Dear

Good to see that the QF marketting and PR departments are doing a sensational Job in Promoting the services and destinations of QF :D

The new booking engine, with the hidden classic awards tick box, would make the million point comment seem correct.

Otherwise beer is available for purchase and is free after 4pm on weekdays. Not sure if they load beer for breakfast. And the first couple of points are just plain wrong.

As opposed to the dinner the week before where there were regular flyers who shared more infinite wisdom on QF & EK and also the subject of bring back QF 81/82 via ADL:p

Yeah. The last / current advertising program is about earning points with QFF partners. QF is no longer in the game of actually advertising themselves to get people on planes.

Just how pathetic can you get?

From PER and to a lessor extent ADL and BNE, QF do not 'effectively' fly to LHR anymore.

Unless you watch masterchef - QF has been advertising their latest international sale during this show.

Well, no, I don't watch it ;) . Oh, sure I'm sure they still have some billboards up too and probably in some far flung move theatre they still run the "I Still Call Australia Home" ads.

But the 'Curiosity' campaign was the all singing-all dancing corporate Big One and they have had to put their money into supporting the points partners, to bulwark that profit centre rather than the core business.

If its not pathetic, then its sad, but probably both.

Well they are correct about EK A330s and 340s

That person had just returned from EK flights ADL - Europe in Y which if I understood correctly were on B777s and A380s. I'm not sure what the Y config is on an EK B777, does anyone know?

I was told this by a QF crew member on a MEL-HKG flight a few weeks ago!
Australian based crew may not due to the LHR base but QF 1 & 9 still go there with QF 2 & 10 leaving LHR.

Agreed, but I was specifically told that QF no longer fly to LHR, as per my comment above. Very poor when not even staff know where they fly to anymore!

as someone who works in a field of marketing and advertising, this kind of perceptions out there is extremely damaging.

I hope QF is taking notes on this, it will only get worse if not stopped.
