QF Dom to JQi (Dom) connectiion Qustions (separate PNR's)

I have read most of this thread but am still a little confused...

I am flying QF PER-SYD. Then connecting to JQ35 SYD-MEL in July. I will be checking in a bike box and the flights are on separate pnr's. Is QF still happy to check luggage through onto JQ?

i assume ground staff are still being told to rip up the JQ boarding pass they print? Is it worth trying at the JQ counter in Perth to get the boarding pass if my luggage has been checked through PER-MEL?

Then once in SYD is it best to head straight over to the international terminal and get the D sticker and boarding pass? (If I can't get it in PER?)

Despite the fact you are flying domestically SYD/MEL, the system treats such a journey ad a dom to intl connection the same as it would if you were flying PER QF SYD JQ DPS.

The real issue is going to be convincing the staff in PER to do it as they will more than likely say "we don't through check bags to JQ domestic flights" because in their eyes JQ35 SYD/MEL is a domestic flight.

If your trip didn't permit such a connection then it would not be possible for your bags to be checked through to MEL & get both boarding passes as the system would recognise that there is no agreement between such flights.

For example if you had a booking PER QF SYD JQ MEL in the same pnr where the JQ flight was a domestic flight departing from SYD T2, the system would only check your bag to SYD.

Thanks for that Oz, so if we are unable to sweet talk the check in agent in PER then we will have to collect bike box and catch the train accross to T1! I think I'll take a couple of chocolates in case they are needed.. Plus my mate doing the trip with me is a master of sweet talking... So might give him the WP card and he can work his magic..

Would it help calling QF and have bookings linked?

No, as QF can't link a pnr in their system with one in the JQ system. Even if they put the JQ flight in as an information segment in Amadeus it won't be visible in Altea & therefore won't appear as an oncarriage flight when you go to checkin.

Sorry to bump the thread, but if i have CBR QF SYD JQ MEL with JQ35 on the same PNR, would i get through check privileges and JQ BP issued at CBR?
