...but everybody will be saying farewell to the T2 lounge because Qantas will be shutting it down after QantasLink moves to T3!
Leaving Virgin Australia as the only airline flying non-stop (as per their route map) interstate to the Sunshine Coast, Hervey Bay, Rockhampton, Mackay, Hamilton Island, Townsville, Uluru & Launceston with same terminal lounge access in Sydney.

QF group scores another own goal.

Perhaps the current QP in T2 may be converted to a pay-as-you-use kind of lounge for JQ passengers similar to what was/is in OOL?

From yesterday's AusBT article:
David Flynn said:
A Qantas spokesperson told Australian Business Traveller... "Jetstar has no plans to take over the lounge."

Dones't seem to have been well advertised, though after posting I checked the Qantas website and they help for Sydney T3 does show transfer from gate 15. You would be a tad annoyed having walked to gate 1 from near 15 to find you have to go back again, because of course no one ever listens to the in-cabin annoucments!

See from post #105 up-thread - It was certainly mentioned and stressed as a change by the FA on arrival into SYD on Sat 13th as we were taxiing to the gate.

In previous times I would have been groaning as the aircraft pulled up at gate 17 with only 5 minutes before the next scheduled bus - 'tis a long walk to gate 1 from there ... this time, just a quick skip up and around the corner and I arrived at the same time as the bus driver - first on the bus.

It perhaps could become a Priority Pass lounge! Just a thought...

Maybe JQ can reboot their lounge strategy and try again. With some tweaking they may actually get somewhere, especially considering it's a much busier area.

I am a bit confused here - do QF currently fly interstate to all of those places or via SYD? If via SYD then you will transit T3 and be able to use the T3 lounge.

Maybe the lounge in OOL was all about keeping the space from the hands of others!

Jetstar do. Think the point the poster was trying to make is with Qlink in T2 there is a lounge that can be used by Jetstar, but with no Qlink there is no lounge for Jetstar passengers to use.

Thanks - so it was just a post sticking the boot into QF on some convoluted hypothesis.

Gate 15 was mentioned as part of the arrival announcement on my BNE-SYD flight yesterday.

I was in the T2 QP last night and asked the lady at the desk about the moving of QFLink and the closure of the QP. She first said in a whisper - "how do you know?". Gave a generic answer of "the internet.". She said that the staff were really going to miss having T2 QP on the roster as it was a nice change from T3 QPs. She also said that the staff call it "the day spa".

I timed the walk from the T3 J lounge to the T2 JQ gates, and it works out at about 15 mins with light security. So of marginal benefit, unless you have time to burn. I think I won't be taking JQ out of SYD if there are other options.

Qantas t2 moving to t3

Read in the latest Qantas mag that T2 (i.e. qantas link) operations are moving to T3.
It was very vague with regard to timing.

Great for me as I can use Business Lounge when flying Qantaslink.

Anyone have anymore info?

Which city?

Re: Qantas t2 moving to t3

There is only one city with qantaslink at T2 and mainline qantas operations at T3. Sydney.

Yes, I realise that now after the existing thread was merged with this one, makes it perfectly clear. But not clear when the original subject was cryptic.
