Qantas / Emirates tie up (Partnership inc. Codeshare, Status)

It seems none of the EK codeshares have been loaded into the oneworld timetable yet. Even when selecting 'include codeshares' it only return the seven destinations served by oneworld carriers.

Why would it annoy AA, are they not in the process of code sharing/partnership with EK as well?

I know they've just started Qatar codeshares (ahead of them becoming OW), but didn't know they also codeshare with EK. What routes are they on?

I suggest doing this in dxb too. Desk dragons did not want to let me in to 1st lounge as i was J despite being WP. After a lot of pushing to get the manager i finally got in. Not good enough after all the hype from alan joycr

Same experience in SIN.....just not good enough!

I have found with Qantas that their staff in the Lounges and behind the check in counter are not aware of rule changes and do not keep up to date with changes. Perhaps no official training is given when rules change.

I can't imagine there'd be any training. An email or memo perhaps.

I've always said lounge access rules are incredibly confusing and not at all easy to understand. There are many threads on AFF seeking clarification on lounge access. My point being, it must be a heck of a thing for staff to get their heads around.

Yes I agree but it is not really an excuse when it is their job. You don't tell the brain surgeon it is ok that he didn't understand the new operating procedures so he did his own thing.

If Qantas invested as much time and effort into staff training (including the EK staff we now have to deal with in DXB) as they into advertising, spin, hype and blatantly incorrect statements then maybe we would not have these problems.

Hehe I'm sure we would all prefer a brain surgeon to stick to an old procedure that was well understood than to mess around with a new one!

I think it's expected that there will be teething issues. Take a print out of your entitlements for now and it will get better as everyone gets used to the new rules.

I am still confused about LHR Lounge access for QF J pax following the Emirates linkup. I understood there was an Emirates Lounge in T3, but QANTAS advise only OW lounges available (eg BA, CX and AA).

LHR T3 you can use the Emirates lounge or any OneWorld lounge, but the BA lounge is still the nominal Qantas lounge. It is interesting to note that the Qantas lounge access page says that Emirates status passengers can access the BA lounge if flying on QF.

You will find that this is the norm too, they only ever list the main lounge not every lounge you can use. For example you don't see in the access page that you could use the AA or CX lounge if you wanted to, even though you can.

In DXB Flounge right now. Had no problems as WP travelling J. I even went out and back in 2 times each with a different person at the desk.

One of them even went to great lengths to explain to me that I can guest one adult and 2 children regardless of class of travel. She explained this to me twice.

So maybe the memo has gotten through :)

Given the fuss created when BA started refusing Qantas Club members access to their J lounge, I would be very surprised if this actually occurred in reality.

I transited DXB on 04/04, had no issues with F lounge access. They have a flip chart at the front desk, exactly the same flip chart used in the QF lounges.

On another note, a little smile was brought to my face when waiting to board an AF flight from Prague to Paris a few days ago when lo and behold, over the loudspeaker chimed "Emirates and Qantas [pronounced Kuwantass] flight EKxx_ to Dubai is now boarding from gate X". Made me a little homesick, got over it very quickly once arriving in Paris ;)
