Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Basically the death knell for Perth QF customers wanting to travel into Asia. As mentioned SQ have 4 flights a day to SIN ex PER!

Will be interesting to see if there's a fare increase by SQ.

Edit to add: also severely reduces redemption opportunities of points ex PER.

Hmm - I don't like new timings of direct flights into Asia. not that much time in the F lounge either (and breakfast rather than lunch menu as well).

I avoid morning flights for that very reason.....need to put thinking cap on!

Culling QF81 ex ADL.....

Oh no, very sad for me as I used to like the flight segment SYD-ADL for Flounging.

Sad news for ADL people

Once again more sad QFi ADL news.

Shame since SQ have increased international services and EK are now visiting us.

I'm guessing QF are using MH & EK to 'expand' their international reach from ADL.

What happens if your current bookings are affected by these changes? I am on QF29 later in the year,I have a connecting flight from SYD. I will now need to connect the night before or I will have an OMG o'clock trip from NTL that morning  Should I ring and ask to be changed to a flight the night before or wait for them to call me, thoughts anyone?
I'm in the same boat for what was a 10am ex SYD connection to a 3pm QF29 flight to HKG early next year.

I'll wait and see what they'll offer, whether it's moved to QF127 or an OMG oclock flight down from SYD. I'll be pushing for the connection the day before on the international 24 hour transit basis.

I imagine that both SQ and CX use them to feed into their network. QF will only really be feeding into the 3K network, which is not exactly a compelling proposition!

I know that SIN was the feeder for the LHR and FRA services, however HKG feeds into the Japan and China services if you really wanted to make it work.

Pardon my ignorance but is less than 24 hours on an international booking regarded as a transit?
My booking says "no stopovers" but I don't want to leave home at 03.15 for the 6 o'clock flight SYD-MEL ( the only legal connection AFAIK) Think I'll be pushing the transit angle as well !

Never ceases to amaze me how SQ can go up to 4x daily on such route, CX can have in excess of 10x weekly, yet the roo struggles with a double daily to SIN and can't compete with a 3x weekly to HKG.

Not really feeling the love with the latest announcements.

+1

Very disappointing for PER based flyers.

This means QFi only operates only 1 international service ex PER - why bother!.

Darn it!

There goes my favourite QF81 flight to ADL when coming in from BKK. Add to that I'll need to be on the 6am flight to make the 09:40 flight (ADL-SYD-BKK) - cheerio to my lounge access in SYD . :(

(Is ADL actually a QF resource for *any* flights these days?!?!?!?)

Red Roo, do you have any more details on the strengthening of ties with JAL, China Eastern, Jet Airways, Cathay Pacific and Malaysia Airlines?

Does this mean Codeshares on existing services, or totally new flights added by the partners or just selling tickets on them as interline?

Hi Princess Fiona,

No need to call us. We have started making calls to affected customers today so you should here from us sometime this week (or from your travel agent if you booked via one).

Cheers

Likewise so surprised & I know that SQ & CX wouldn't be upping the ante with the added flights unless demand & yields weren't there..
Something seems very amiss with QFi

From PER, we used to be able to fly QF international to SIN (2x daily), HKG, NRT, LHR and FRA (via SIN) all on QF metal.
Now it's just SIN and even so, most likely on an inferior A333.

I'm about ready to give up on Qantas. Their international services out of Perth are poor at best at the moment, and with this latest change, it's only going to get worse. I'm wondering if it's worth the hassle anymore and just transferring all my international travel elsewhere.

I called up this AM they were surprised lol. QF said they will contact everyone.

I hope they codeshare with MH and CX from Perth. One daily flight from Perth sucks.

I'm just wondering how those airlines will strength "links to the key hubs of Singapore and Hong Kong".

We've made a stronger link to Singapore by canceling flights. (Unless you fly via SYD).

To be more accurate, "greater than 24 hours" is considered a stopover.

(Once on the one booking we had a 10am arrival into LHR followed by a next day 10am departure from LGW. No APD was assessed.)

Are these (dis)enhancements confirmed? I had a quick look for flights from BKK (return) for July/August 2013, and the ARR-DEP times haven't changed. And QF81 remains an option SYD-ADL.
