I don't use baggage tags... 99% of the time I only have hand luggage. My PA arranges and checked luggage.

This reminded me of something I meant to comment on the other week, but forgot about, and that is the people who use their bag tags on their cabin luggage. Seriously? I know that they may be excited about their Q tags, but who puts a bag/status tag on cabin luggage? It's just a case of DYKWIA, when the answer is: "no one important"...

It's a bit like the people you see checking in at J* that have kept their "first class" priority airline tags strapped to their bags from a CX or BA flight that was probably 4 years ago:D

I resemble that remark! There are many occasions when, after a meeting, my bag is full of extra stuff and a bit awkward for me to manhandle (oldmanhandle) into the overhead bins. So I check it in. Always handy to have the Q tag already attached.

I'm the same, and there have been many threads on this in the past.

There are two reasons why I have a bag tag on what's usually my carry on:

1) If I pack my carry on bag a bit too aggressively it easily goes over 7KG (and often over 10KG). If it's borderline (eg: 7.3KG) I don't bother, but anything higher I check it for safety reasons as I'd feel dreadful if it whacked someone in the head.

2) I attend a lot of conferences where bags are often left unattended. In a sea of bags it's good to be able to quickly confirm 100% that the bag I'm grabbing is mine.

This is off topic, so I won't comment any more in this thread :)

I used to think this too. But I could understand if the were times you had to check the particular bag, and other times you were able to take it on the aircraft. In that case, the Q tag would be helpful.

My Q Tag is attached to my rollaboard for that reason. I have a normal Qantas tag and a Virgin Tag on my backpack...I guess in the hope that if someone finds my bag they can take it to a DJ or QF desk and hopefully they can find me quickly.

With recent news that I will have to fly Y if the economy takes a downturn I am preparing a large DYKWIW tag to replace the DYKWIA tag.

Spotted on QF2

Is that a PS Q Tag I see?

Rolla boards bags are one thing and all perfectly reasonable to have a Qtag attached. But there is no way the bag in my picture will ever be checked in, not to mention it was on an international flight.

I thought it was a WP one. In the J cabin and the guy was carrying on a bit like a W.

It is a WP one, The PS one has a red and white QF Logo.

I have a Q Bag Tag on my laptop bag, just a way of identifying my bag, and with my details on it.

I have way too many already, WP tags are on my checkins, PS ones are on my carry ons, still got a couple of SG ones kicking around at home somewhere.

It is a WP one. The PS one is slightly lighter (and I believe a lot now; they re-launched the WP ones) and have a red QF logo (WP is white).

Re: First time through the frosted black doors

Sorry...should have done the sticky out tongue thingy. I was being facetious. the original WP Q Tags were so so similar apart from the red QF triangle.

Yeah that really killed the DYKWIA factor ;)

I'm tempted to get some new ones, just so I can have both sets :)

At least you all know what they look like. I didn't have a clue.

I've only just seen your mobile app sig medhead, LMAO.

you inspired me with your thread. ;)

I put a business card in the clear panel section on the outside of such bags.

I keep meaning to buy the red one. You hardly ever see them!

Then all I need is an invitation the the CL lounge to show it off.*

*The poster would like to admit that the second line is feeble attempt to be on topic to justify the previous line's off topic nature.

Here I was thinking it was a very subtle attempt to get me to invite you!! ;)

Nah, I'd never ask, I think that is most impolite, and secondly I would be the most out of place person you would ever see in the CL. When QF was drawing up their list of types they don't want in the CL lounge they used my name!! (I make the F lounge look messy just by walking into it!!!)

Re: First time through the frosted black doors

As I posted last year:
We have 4 tags; 2 WP and 2 SG - they are sitting in a filing cabinet and are unlikely ever to be used.

Why?

The only thing I ever check domestically these days are golf clubs; as they are generally 'special luggage' there is no benefit at all to be had with these tags.

Of course, I could do the DYKWIA thing and add their weight and bulk to my carryon ... :p
Aside from that, I get 2 x 7kg on Qantas domestic Jet flights - why would I bother checking rollaboards - that's more than I take ATW.

Re: First time through the frosted black doors

I do have one sitting in the inside pocket of my rollaboard (in case I ever need to use it which is very rarely),
but since my AFF and Qantas tags got ripped off the last time it was checked in

it now flies with the metal cased CX tag - which I like as your address details are not publicly visible.

International QF Y is a bit of a problem though. I got away with it last week but I have no comeback if QF demands I check my rollaboard, given I have my backpack with laptop and various gadgets in it too.

edit: OK Q Tag won't work on international........so my Q Tag is pointless...in every way!!

Actually not completely pointless I can use it as a drinks coaster in flight!:p

Q Tags are the eiptome of QF "enhancements" IMO..
