Only registered last week for this bonus - so for every $1 spent is pt earn 5pts or is it 7.5pts?

It is 5 bonus points in addition to whatever your normal rate of earn is (1.0, 1.5 or 2.0).

So as I use my Edge card I earn 5 + 2 = 7.

Has anybody tried buying prepaid visa card yet? They are $8 and charging fee is $4. So for $12 you can earn 7000 points from a prepaid visa $1000 card.

You can't buy them with credit cards.

Pretty sure despite what people have been told that if you were already in that you have been automatically extended.

This was so for me, and many in this thread had have reported this too.

That sux. Does bp sell retailers' gift cards? Like coles myer etc?

Rather than repeat the whole thread, perhaps you could read the first several pages?

If you do, I am sure that you will find the answers to many questions that you may soon ask, plus some you may not think of.

I would echo the advice to read the first few pages.

But to answer, there are BP gift cards available from BP outlets but not "on the run" outlets. BP Gift cards work everywhere (so fare for me). They also sell iTunes cards.

Sent from my iPhone using Aust Freq Fly app so please excuse the lack of links.

I'm glad you noticed your mistake and edited your post. But we both still know it's not really fixed. Neither on the first couple of pages nor first several pages there is no mention of other retailers'/department stores gift cards. (there is a question about it on page 15 with no clear answer, if you consider page 15 within the first couple or several pages).

I had read the thread several times before I posted my prepaid visa card question here. Because I had known somebody asked the same question on Page 16 and only got a "try it yourself" answer. This is why I said "yet" in my first question referring to the person considered buying prepaid visa card on page 16.

Though, your post made me doubt myself so I went and re-re-re read it again. Surprise surprise there is no confirmation about other retailers' gift card at all!!! There is no list, no confirmation, no talk about availability of department store cards. So I don't know what those two people thanked you for your post for. Just plain suck up?

Yesterday, I saw a few gift cards at a BP station. So there are definitely other gift card options. I don't remember what they were as I was only interested in the prepaid visa card (I can recall a gift card called Outback). If I go there again I'll let people know what other gift cards are available.

BP's have SOME giftcards, but nothing of much use really

Well, I can confirm that for previously registered promo'ers, there is no need to re-register, as I didn't and this was my tester transaction:

So filling up the Hertz hire car worked for me ;). Now to keep filling up with BP (and I'm glad that I changed my Woolworths EDR to earning FF points)

Back on the BP bowser today - $85 later I was pretty happy thinking about 7.5x FFP's

I noted this back at #237, website indicates March 31, but those who have spoken with Amex have been told June. Typical Amex  I'm going by the date on the website and won't be counting on getting any bonus points after that date, unless they extend it on the website that is.

re: 5xbonus at BP 'til 31Dec2011[Ext.to 31Mar2012] Must register your card.

Ditto.....especially when it costs me $200+ to fill my tank.

I'm currently driving a little VW which only costs $60 to fill up so often when I take the work truck out I make sure that is filled too.

I may be changing to an SS ute which will be $100 each fill in the coming months... is it weird that I look forward to the points more than the car? :p

Amex statement came today with a bonus partner flyer.

The BP thing is shown to end Mar 31st.

Which makes sense, rather than taking it through to 30 June.

At least I'll be able to buy some more BP gift cards at the end of March and then my accumulated cards in the last quarter of the FY.

Would be nice if they take it through to June. I'm sure BP has seen increased Amex usage.

Perhaps they could replace it with another promotion.. like Dick Smith? :D

re: 5xbonus at BP 'til 31Dec2011[Ext.to 31Mar2012] Must register your card.

I filled the car and got 2 x $100 gift cards - but I'm not sure she did the right thing - other than scanning the card, I thought she needed to register it but she was adamant she did all she needed. I'm not convinced.

They need to activate the card. it takes a few minutes for each. I'm guessing they won't work.

They need to scan it....and then swipe it through the magnetic card reader to put the credit onto each card.

However, I bought $1000 worth on 30th and it only showed up today the 2nd (though correctly back dated to the 30th). So yours may have just been slow like mine if she did do it correctly.

I am currently "in discussions" with a BP for a $50 card that was not activated correctly. The guy was fumbling for ages and I thought he did it, but the card has no credit.

After that one, I have kept all the receipts, both for the purchase of the cards, and more importantly the activation receipts for them.

They are telling me I picked up a card off the shelf and it was never activated and they never took the $$ from me. As it was the only thing I purchased on the day I rang Amex and disputed the charge, see what happens from there!
Finally got back to the BP Ashgrove where I bought the 2x $100 cards that hadn't been activated. Had all my remaining BP Gift cards with me with both the CC & activation receipts for all (apart from the ones bought here). The guy behind the counter knew what had happened straight away, so went back into the Managers office with the 2 cards and my CC receipt, for him to check activation (or lack thereof). Sure enough, they agreed they hadn't been activated (by the girl who had been working there for a whole week before I bought them) and then the rigmarole of activating started. He needed the 2x$100 cardboard cardholders to use the barcodes, so went back out to my car where thankfully I had them still in the glovebox. That worked and he went through the process in their manual step-by-step. All fixed in about 10 mins. The Manager came out and wondered why I had $450 in gift cards with me, so I told him it was for staff and client incentives - he thought that was a good idea ;)

Thankfully they had a second till operating, who was taking all the people coming in to pay for the petrol. Almost cried when I saw about $300 in cash pass by through the till whilst I was waiting, I was almost ready to give that operator my CC for each transaction, as recompense for my invalid cards. 7.5x QFF points went begging:evil:

Well, I'll be buying $200 every month at the end of the month (so need to do some for January), then will do a big shop on 30 March (to make sure they get through by 31 March). But won't buy them from BP Ashgrove - the Manager at BP Kingsford Smith Drive was much cuter, knew what she was doing and much closer (about 5 mins from office).

Also found out how they work and was told to keep the initial activation receipt, then swap for a new receipt (if not all credit used - as each receipt shows remaining balance).
