Thanks, very interesting. I had a few trips that I was about to book on BA which I will now most likely not do. Idiots.

Your MA Gold should get you into lounges anyway, but I can understand your not doing it on principle.

Sad irony is that if BA got off its butt and finished transforming most of its lounges to the Galleries concept, the QF/BA agreement on QP would pretty much have dissolved by now.

Just as I saw the e-mail saying you replied... I knew it was going to say the MA Gold (and I was already typing out my reply in my head before reading your response ). That's precisely right, as a matter of principle I would not do it as I may well be having to rely on my QP membership again in 2-3 years and the issue will leave me without lounge access. At least with my UK issued AMEX Plat Charge Card I get lounge access of some sort......... I still think it stinks though.

I dare say they will deliberately leave a handful of lounges as Terraces ones for that reason (to disallow QP members access to the rest).... cynical much? :D

Don't you love it when airlines send you through itinerary changes and ask you to agree to a new time, usually the time change can be 5 or 10 minutes, well this time change is 23 hrs 55 minutes.:confused:

Yeah I agreed to it a few months ago but only just picked up the error now as I was booking someone else on the same set of flights.

I am not sure how to go about the changes now, as the ticket is an ex London ticket, well it is half the price.

I could just eat a change fee and leave on Sunday 13 November so that I can attend Sams

Saves a night accommodation but I could be rather tired after the 25 hour plane flight.

Decisions, decisions.

I didn't think it needed its own thread so posting it here is as good a place as any.

Is it worth calling the Premium Desk & explaining to them that you thought it was only a 5 minute change & you didn't realise it would impact on your planned bbq, err business meeting you had.

What dates are you over here? I get the feeling I'll be in Aus while you're in Euro..

I did ring Qantas and have been offered QF51/QF31 on the 12 November via Singapore. Then I was going to purchase a new airfare ex London in PE.

Looking at my new planned schedule, we might both miss each other by about 2 hours in Singapore on our prospective return journeys 23 November.

But that depends on whether Qantas will actually be up and flying by then.

Qantas have offered flight changes up until the 15 November, and I am supposed to be traveling on the 12 November, trying to decide whether I change the return part of my journey to June 6 2012, and book a new set of flights on Cathay Pacific to London and back.

Always wanted to try Cathay Pacific there and back and spend a bit of time in each of the 2 Cathay Lounges in Hong Kong.

I guess there is a lot of us in the same situation, do we stay put, hope that things are sorted out fast, delay our journeys or book flights on other airlines, but pay the higher fees.

What a mess. :(

What a day yesterday was for Qantas, and AFF for that matter. ;)

i made the comment that AFF was running slow, and Qantas had a bit of industrial action but to have them both stop around the same time, irony much.

Some things you just can't plan can you.

If you don't have a iPhone you can switch off now. :p

With all the news about Qantas I decided to follow a few peoples suggestions and downloaded iOS 5 for the Iphone,

It turns text messages from Iphone to Iphone with iOS 5 to data so you aren't paying for the individual text message.

The other neat feature it the Facetime so person to person phone calls with pictures, so you can show what the view is like from where you are.

While the Iphone was downloading, I thought I would read a book, One Day.

Also if you are finding AFF running slow seems like there is a bit of chatter over on twitter, just another social network program to keep up with all that is going on in the world.

Not sure what is revolutionary about this - Facetime has been around for a while as the Apple integrated "answer" to Skype, until Skype became both cross-platform and a whole lot less confusing to use.

My sister and I used Facetime regularly before to call each other, until it was better to use Skype due to reliability reasons.

Wow what a weekend. On the positive side I have discovered that I can survive an evening without skimming through new posts on AFF, the ABC iPhone App with streaming news 24 is awesome ( watched AJ's press conference in a park using Telstra 3G it never missed a beat) and Twitter is my new friend ;)

Yesterday we switched our two staff off QF PER-SYD-LAX-SLC to SQ going PER-SIN-LAX yesterday for about 121,000 points each. They had to go Y to SIN then J to LAX so that was a fantastic recovery. The Y section was Saver and the J was Standard. Amazing stuff!

In the SYD DOM J Lounge at T3. I am the only person here today. There are 4 members of staff in the lounge, and me. At least I have the NPPPs to console me....

Interesting. I fly out next Sunday, so let's hope it's resolved by then... nlagalle flew out last night and managed to switch over to SQ when he arrived at the airport.

The (by a fair margin) best and most intelligent boss I ever worked for reckoned anyone who worked more than 40 hours a week either couldn't manage their time properly or simply had too much work on their plate. I cannot recall him exceeding 40 hours (not to say he didn't).

Heh. If only it were that simple!

At least I bill out for every single hour I work / phone call I take etc.

.... <- not really news, is it....
News to me!

It is at least 7 years since anyone expected more than 37.5 hours out of me. We are constantly asked to do more but I will only do what fits in to 37.5 hours a week. I will not work more than 40 hours a week unless am paid for it or get time off in lieu.

I guess I am one of the lucky ones....

Okay here's a question for you techno dudes & dudesses out there. I had set the alarm on my Samsung Galaxy S phone to go off today at 0200 and at 0215 & neither alarm went off.

Fortunately I woke up of my own accord at 0210 but thought I must've slept through the first alarm but when I looked at my phone when the time changed to 0215 nothing happened.

I checked the setting & it's on "everyday" which I deselect if I'm not doing an early. I can't figure out what's different about the alarm as it's never failed before & could have dire consequences if I don't show up for work.

Thanks in advance!

Reboot phone. Modify current alarm (move it forward one minute, move it back). Check that it has the message "Alarm is set for xx_".

The alarm clock "application" could have crashed and is no longer scheduling alarms. Also on my Galaxy SII I've seen some quirkiness with alarms at times - setting a day for example can incorrectly set the alarm for another day.

If it was actually going off, but there was no sound ... then there would be seperate things to check,
