Qantas Terminal @ SYD security breach

Qantas aircraft are lined up along RWNY 07/25 waiting to park at the terminal. Poor passengers.

Interesting to see how they got in without check this time

Last time I checked that's a photo of T2 security..... Get it right no news...

Altough it is T2, realistically, how many people would even realise that it is the other terminal? Be different if it had JQ and VA logos!

Incompetence.
Is it? If bikies can have a massive terminal brawl, which security cameras apparently don't record… Could the unions (with an appropriate degree of separation) organise for "two hapless individuals" to go the wrong way through the exits at "just the right time"?

Really not good at all. It will be interesting to see if the culmination of these three events have any knock on effects to processes. I know I wont be popular but I do like the US process whereby you have to have a BP to access the airside part of the terminal. I know this wouldn't prevent issues like this occurring but at least it might cut down some of the traffic.

It is interesting this was reported to take place at the Qantas Sydney terminal whereas the prior SYD event took place at T2 (note the lack of branding on the earlier piece ;))

I don't quite see how they could go through the exits as aren't they meant to lock down if someone goes through them the wrong way?
My money is on a security screener being half asleep or there is no "two hapless individuals"

Dont know if it is just for today but the Barista is stilling pulling coffee at the QF Business l
lounge.:)

I'm on QF925, the scheduled 1.10pm service CNS-SYD. We've been parked at the gate for an hour due to a "minor engineering issue". The good news is that the backlog at SYD is expected to clear by the time we get in and the crew has been pouring us drinks and providing nuts so it's better being stuck here than on the apron at SYD :).

(Also my five year old was just invited into the coughpit by the captain and I was able to take some photos...so it's worked out pretty well so far :)

Yeah I thought that was a no-go area these days but maybe they can while on the ground (where we still are...) or maybe it's a CNS thing ;).

They are normally a no go area, although I believe that is only limited to when they are in the air... On the ground I doubt it's a problem, besides if it is a problem, it's on the captains head, not yours...

Definitely post flight is ok, I've sat on the flight deck on a 747 post 9/11. My daughter has also sat in the RHS on a 737.

Pre flight not sure, usually they are busy prepping, but if they are delayed then maybe?

BTW I asked a security guy as we exited in SYD. The breach occurred at the southern exit (the opposite of the one above valet parking) just in case anybody is curious.

Seriously, this is getting beyond a joke. How many times does this happen a year around the country? Too many. And the worst part is at the exit, they are paying people to do one simple job and they stuff it up.

It is not a case of if it will happen again, it will be WHEN.

There as an open invitation to J class passenger on a CX flight that was delayed out of Brisbane to come up and visit the coughpit about 18 months ago. Myself and my travelling companion were up and out of our seats before the announcement was complete :), you don't get opportunities like that anymore :(
